Good times

We're in a nice little groove over here. It seems like each week when I sit down to write the post I have nothing but warm feelings about the week that has passed even though we don't have much going on. I can't complain.

It was super warm in MN in March but it's been cooler in April. We hadn't been getting out for many wagon rides because of the weather but I'm happy to say that we've started back up. Kasper thinks he can handle the dog.

By Wednesday it was even nice enough to stop at the park on the way home for a swing.

Kasper LOVES swinging. He cries and cries when it's time to get off.

K has been into "cleaning" this week.

We've been having to go in to wake Kasper up in the mornings (I remember thinking that would never happen!) and one morning his little feet were sticking out of his crib. He's just so little and cute.

We woke up yesterday morning and headed out to meet my parents and sister for a little photo session! Steph and I got a family session for my parents for Christmas - we found a Groupon for one that seemed like a good deal! We waited to actually take them until the end of April because we figured the weather would be ok. It was cold and raining so we ended up having the pictures taken inside their studio. Not usually my style but as long as some of the pictures are keepers, that's all that matters. Kasper caught a quick wink on the way.

We got the pictures taken in a couple of minutes then went out for lunch. We got home around 2 and Kasper was down for a nap at 2:30. I ended up having to wake him up at 5:30 so he would go to sleep at night!

We had dinner then tormented the dog.

I had nothing to worry about - Kasper went down fine at 7:30 and we didn't hear from him until 7:30 this morning! He usually hates having a hat on but was all about wearing this bat hat we got from my cousin's little boy. He would take it off, realize he wanted to wear it and bring it to Rob to be put back on.

DSC_0660-2 This morning we were thinking about going out for a bike ride but Kasper was pretty loudly trying to convince us he needed a morning nap. I put him down at 10 and he went right to sleep and slept until noon! I think he might be going through a growth spurt. He's been eating a lot and sleeeeeeeeping a ton. He hasn't taken 2 naps at home for a long time. We went for a bike ride after lunch and went about 10 miles with a stop at the Depot for a cookie at the halfway point.

When we got home, Kasper went right down for his second nap - an hour and a halfer! He was woken up by the neighbor mowing his lawn and I think he could've slept longer.

We grilled for dinner then sat around and watched the after dinner entertainment. AKA Kasper. He was being so silly. He was in just a diaper for some reason and was just tearing around.

Kasper - LIVE!

We took a bunch of videos last weekend that capture the essence of living with Kasper W.

First - he finally figured out how to walk this little dog. Loves it.

Then a couple we took during dinner on Saturday night (where he went from a Holy Terror to a silly boy with just a little tuna sammie.)

A couple noises:

Going through body parts:

A brief interview:

And finally - this boy has NO FEAR (wouldn't that make a series of great t-shirts?) (And yes, he was pooping.) (You're welcome.)

There's certianly enough of him to go around. Enjoy!

Low-key

We played it pretty close to home this week and weekend.

After not feeling 100% last weekend, Kasper ended up getting whatever crud was going around daycare and spent the beginning of the week with a hacking cough. He had a fitful night Tuesday night and when he woke up Wednesday he was clingy and whiny and just wanted to be held. Rob and I both had to be at work in the morning so I told Kasper I would call daycare after my meeting and if he was still feeling crummy I could come and get him. I called and they told me he wasn't his normal active self, couldn't get settled for a morning nap and wasn't interested in eating. I was already feeling a pretty hefty dose of working mothers' guilt for dropping him off in the first place so I dropped everything and went to pick up my boy. I didn't get a chance to eat lunch and Kasper wasn't interested in his at daycare so I heated up some food and gave him some cheerios. We ended up having a super fun lunch and Kasper even had some bites of cereal. He was being soooooo silly - I loved it.

I figured I could make it up to him for leaving him in the morning by letting him nap in his bed and nap he did. He took a 2.5 hour nap so I was feeling good about bringing him home. We spent the rest of our afternoon playing with the dog and walking around outside.

(Remember when I was lamenting how there were no brooms for kids? Grandma Sandra found a couple for K's Easter basket! He loves them.)

The good news is that Kasper's cough was almost all gone by Thursday!

The bad news is that I started getting the crud Wednesday and it still hasn't gotten any better. Ugh. I haven't had a full night's sleep since then. It hasn't been the best week/weekend for me being stuck in this head tunnel.

Yesterday I made ebelskivers filled with nutella for breakfast then we headed off to Ikea to browse around. After lunch Kasper went down for his long nap. When he woke up, he was happy. We played and had some snacks.

(I love these pics of K and Lois. They pretty much sum up snack time.)

Before long, Kasper's mood took a terrible turn for the worse. He was crabby, whiny, clingy, generally unpleasant. It was really bringing our Saturday down especially since I already felt like crap. We just had tuna sammies for dinner to make it easy and the kid ate half my sandwich! Plus some banana and yogurt. During and after dinner, he was SO fun and we were all having a great time. I took some videos that I'll share later. Even though he had some snacks after his nap, I think the poor kid was just super hungry. That made us feel like awesome parents. He really turned our Saturday around at bedtime. He is just such a silly kid.

We met up with some friends for breakfast. Lily was at Kasper's birthday party where they had fun playing. She turns 4 this week and was so cute with K. She shared her toys and even played little tickling games with him.

Kasper took another epic nap this afternoon and for dinner, Steve and Carol came over to make Steve's famous Cornish Pasties!

While the pasties baked, Grandpa Steve and Carol got down on the floor to do some playing with the boy. He was a happy baby and had so much fun. He was really chatting up a storm.

The pasties were delicious and we were able to take our first wagon ride in a while after dinner.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Kasper the rallier

Hold onto your butts! I have lots to cover this week.

I didn't even pick up my camera this week. I know we were busy but looking back I can't remember what it is we were doing! Kasper continues to grow and change daily. He is mimicking everything we say - hot!, alrighty then, bub. Love it.

Rob picked Kasper up from daycare one day when he was done with court early and they walked over to the park nearby. I hear that they had a fun time swinging and pointing out every car that passed. Kasper's love of cars is not lessening at all. In fact, I guess he was yelling "car" so loud some of the drivers waved!

Kasper had his 15 month check up Friday afternoon. His stats:
Weight - 21 lbs (6%)
Height - 31.25" (66%)
Head - 17.5" - (5%)

It's not even a talking point anymore which is a relief. He's following his growth curves perfectly! I was glad to see he finally broke 20 lbs! He also got a couple vaccines which went about as well as expected. This is the first time that I haven't nursed him after his shots to comfort him. :(

Since we were out and about we decided to knock out Kasper's first haircut! We had planned on doing it sometime this weekend but we've had it on the list for a couple weekends and it hadn't happened. In the end, it was a good thing we got it out of the way Friday.

Here is Kasper's hair before. Nothing too crazy but needing a trim.

Everything was fine until the girl started cutting. There there were major tears, writhing, screaming, etc. Paci went in so he didn't get his ear cut off.

Kasper woke up at 5:30 Saturday morning and wouldn't really go back to sleep which is unusual right now. I brought him in to our bed around 6:30 and he just laid on our chests and snuggled with us -- also highly unusual. When we got out of bed, I set  him down and he had trouble standing! Then when he tried to walk, he limped around on stiff legs. I sort of panicked but assumed it was from his shots. Rob actually took the time to read the vaccine handout and it says right on there that the 4th shot in the series is the worst and this was his 4th shot. That answered that!

You guys, doesn't he look so much older??

Kasper went down for a nap at 8:30 (again, totally weird) and Steph and I went shopping. He actually slept for 2 hours, then he and Rob played for a bit, had lunch and he was back down for a nap at 1ish where he slept for another 2 hours. Poor kid - this round of vaccines really got to him. He even allowed a book to be read to him.

K went to bed at 7 and didn't wake up until 9 this morning. Thankfully he seemed to be feeling much better.

We headed out to the Landscape Arboretum to go for a little walk. (Thanks Grandma Sandra for the membership - I think we're going to be making many trips!) It was funny, Kasper seemed sleepy on the drive so I just laid him in the wagon without opening the seats and he stayed laying down!

Hopefully he feels 100% tomorrow.

Told you this was a long one! Have a great week!
