Wisconsin!

I had a girl's weekend last weekend and we found ourselves in Hayward, WI based solely on an Airbnb availability. Well it was fate because we absolutely adored Hayward and the surrounding towns as well as our cute cabin and its location!

We went for a 3.5 mile hike one morning. There were wonderful trails around our cabin that had a little bit of everything. We had fields, trees, bogs, rasberries, blueberries. Serioulsy go to Northern WI if you have a chance.

It happened that the weekend we were there was during the Internation Lumberjack Competition but tickets were all sold out. I'd love to go some day! We did get a glimpse of the world's largest muskie, though.

We went up the road to Cable for dinner and pie one night and were also in love with Cable.

When we weren't walking or eating, we were chatting and drinking! I love these ladies so much and we have so much fun together talking about our 30+ year friendships.

Busy season

Summer is in full swing!

The kids both went to camp this week which was fun. Kasper went to a playground camp with one of his besties and Marlo went to sailing camp with one of hers! The camps both ended at the exact same time in 2 different cities so Marlo's BFF's Mom was nice enough to pick them both up almost every day. And take them out for ice cream. Marlo had ice cream every day this week which I think has never happened. She also got to see a dog every day.

On Friday, the sailors sailed to Big Island in the middle of Lake Minnetonka for lunch! Marlo and her BFF are sailing one of these boats all by themselves!

Last night Kasper went to his first concert - Imagine Dragons! Apparently it was EPIC. So exciting for him.

Today was mostly chores and sweet Marlo spent the entire day working on a creative project where she gave animals names and categorized them by name, species, sex, age, etc.

This is another busy week coming up. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Sioux Falls

We started the week going up to St. Cloud for the 4th of July! It was threatening rain but the day stayed pretty dry. We got to hang out with a handful of high school friends and their families. Everyone's kids are getting so big!

Then on Friday we went down to Sioux Falls to celebrate my Grandma's 95th burthday! It was the most fun trip I've had to Sioux Falls in years. We went down a day earlier which helped to not arrive low and hot and late for the party. My sister, brother-in-law, Rob and I rented the cutest little Airbnb a couple blocks away which was also great. We got to hang out at my Grandma's, help her with some yard projects, drive around town looking at places I used to live and other landmarks I have enjoyed seeing since I was a kid. I LOVED Mr. Bendo growing up. He was given a paint job and moved into town. He was across the street from where we got coffee one morning and I was delighted.

Kasper and Marlo made eggs each morning.

Grandma and her great grandkids.

My Grandma is 95 and lives alone in this house. She tends to her gardens (vegetable and flower), volunteers at the hospital, plays cards with friends, has a cell phone. She's a pretty cool lady.

Kasper's got an inch on her.

We visited my Grandpa, Kasper's namesake.

On the way home we stopped at the largest candy store with literally everyone driving a car in MN today.

Both kids are off to camp tomorrow! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

CA Pt. 2

After being in Pasadena for the wedding, we all headed brunch then on to Newport Beach! By way of Altadena.

It was a long wait for brunch.

It was cloudy once we got to the shore but it didn't stop the kids from putting their feet in the Pacific Ocean! Marlo was a first timer and Kasper doesn't remember the previous times he was in the Pacific. The bride and groom got some cabins in a CA State Park (Crystal Cove) which was AMAZING. Highly recommend this state park. It felt a little like Dirty Dancing or a family resort in the Catskills. All these old cabins have been rehabbed, there was a cute bar and a nice restaurant. A beach that went on FOREVER. So great.

And before you ask, NO, no one brought dry clothes.

For dinner we got burgers at this old school Shake Shack on the side of the highway overlooking the park.
