Quarantine: Week 11

We're heading into the last week of school! I can't believe it! Time has honestly flown by at home.

If you've been anywhere near the news or social media, you know it's been a hard week for Minnesota. We've had some hard conversations with the kids about the killing of George Floyd and the resulting riots in Minneapolis and St. Paul. It's been horrifying, honestly. We're going to our second night of a curfew out here in the suburbs. 2020 has really sucked so far. I can only hope some good comes out of it and we can get reset on the right path to equality in our corner of the world and beyond.

Other than that (WHICH IS COMPLETELY OUT OF THE NORM) we had a normal week.


We had to be downstairs while our housekeeper came this week. We are so thankful the basement is finished! We sure have been enjoying it! Of course this day Marlo had to make basically the messiest lunch with her class over our new carpet.




She got really into making Nutella "sushi" for everyone. Yay, right?

We got out for a long walk today. The weather has been AMAZING lately. It's been wonderful to be home all day to enjoy it!

Quarantine: Week 10

Week 10! Time has seriously flown by. I can't believe we've been home for 10 weeks already.

We spent as much time as we could outside this week.


Even had lunch out there!


We also go a little stir crazy sometimes.





Kasper found some friends. By the end of their time together, the snail was riding the milipede.


Grandma Sandra got the kids Highlights magazine. I totally got that magazine when I was a kid and the hidden pictures page was always my favorite.



Happy Memorial Day! It was rainy for a portion of the day here. We did some good "organizing".


In the process, the kids got reacquainted with some of their old toys they haven't seen in years.


The sun came out and it was hot and humid! Definitely felt like the first day of summer! Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!

Quarantine: Week 9

Another week down! I've never been home so much in the Spring! It's great! I was always on maternity leave in the dead of winter.

We are mostly in the swing of things with distance learning - the kids are getting more and more independent as far as using the technology. Marlo is learning to add double and single digit numbers which has been a little rough. We do school just about everywhere in the house.

A couple months ago I saw a story on the news of a photographer going around taking porch photos so I signed us up! She was here for about 5 minutes on Friday and I love the pictures! It will be a fun reminder of these crazy days. Obviously my hair is showing signs of being in quarantine and unable to be colored. Not sure what Rob's excuse is. ;)

Also missed her first haircut due to the pandemic.

Living for art. She has been LOVING painting. Absolutely loving it. My prediction is she's going to be some kind of mixed media artist when she gets older.




All the seating in the basement and they sit on the coffee table.

We're still moving in down here, obviously, but it's been such a great space to have.

Quarantine: Week 8

2 months in. And still no end in sight.

This is distance learning. A few worksheets, some writing implements, lunch? breakfast?, half dressed, drawing on the inside of a bubble mailer, and lots and lots of lying down (or running around or rolling on the floor or hiding in a beanbag full of stuffed animals or just plain being 6 and 9 years old) on the job.


The most fun we had this week was welcoming a horse mask into the home.




Kasper got a new bike this Spring and LOVES it. He is getting to be a really really good rider!

Today was Mother's Day! I got some great cards from the kids. I laughed when I read them.

Quarantine: Week 7

SPRING HAS SPRUNG in MN and it is AMAZING!

We have been having the best weather and it's such a treat.

We had school Mon-Thurs.

We fired up the pizza oven.



It was windy this weekend and perfect for flying kites.





Marlo became obsessed with her next artistic endeavor and painted about 50 rocks.










Rob and Kasper went on a dark bike/run to put some rocks Kasper painted in the woods.



Today we went to try to find them!


One more day tomorrow without school until the final push to the end of the year! I hope when the kids' teacher assignments for next year come out this summer they don't have me again. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
