Dear face, Sorry. Love, Kasper

The overwhelming theme of this week was the destruction of Kasper's face. That's really over-dramitizing it but I'm going with it.

When Kasper woke up Monday morning, his left eye looked a tiny bit swollen but I assumed he had rubbed it or something. Off he went to daycare. When I picked him up I noticed he had some neon green goop in the eye. By dinner time his eye was totally infected. Ugh. After dinner he was playing by the table, tripped and caught the table leg on the left cheek. Double ugh.

Looking good, no?

Rob took the first half off Tuesday to take care of Sr. Pink Eye. Apparently he really wanted to be wearing a hat.

Hahaha! That eye!

Rob took him to the Dr. to get his eye drops while I got some work done then I took over. Kasper was in a really good mood and the eye drops work pretty quickly. By later in the afternoon, after 2 drops, his eye was already looking much better.

We had tons of fun playing and taking pictures. He's my favorite model. I realize there are many pictures of Kasper's face in this post but he was just so willing! Usually he tells me No!

We woke up Wednesday morning, showered and got all ready. I went to get Kasper up and his RIGHT eye was now crusted shut. Great. We started drops in both eyes and I changed back into yoga pants. After breakfast I loaded us into the car and went to run some errands. I have to tell you, we had a GREAT day. We left the house around 8:30 and I love being out and about so early. It was nice and cool, we stopped first at Caribou so I could get a cup of coffee. We stopped at Goodwill where I dropped off a load of donations and scored some awesome treasures (including these red fish, blue fish Converse All-Stars for $2.99!)

We went to Michael's and Trader Joe's and Kasper was the best shopping partner.

We got home and had falafels for lunch which Kasper gobbled up. K went down for a nap and ended up sleeping for 3 hours!!! I got to get a lot of work done on my San Francisco pictures as well as some other projects I'm working on. It was a nice mix of Kasper time and me time which is hard to find sometimes. Kasper was in such a great playful mood all day and it was such a treat to spend the day with him.

This picture is blurry but it's so silly. Kasper loves to lay in the dog's bed.

By the end of Wednesday his face was looking much, much better.

Kasper did some good coloring while I made dinner.

Thursday was back to the real world. I did manage to get a couple videos of Kasper's new "tricks".

One of my current favorite words.

Loosely ounting to 5. Well, he knows 2 then 4, 5 then 8.

And last but certainly not least..

Which I have grown 2 of, thankyouverymuch.

Rob and I spent the day at a cabin yesterday, leaving the baby at home. It was a perfect day and was nice to be on the water.

This morning started out rainy which meant it was dark out which meant BOTH kids slept until 7:30!! It was amazing. We had a waffle breakfast then Kasper figured he'd head out to work.

We spent the afternoon getting a haircut for Mama and getting groceries. Since it was so nice out we grilled kabobs and ate outside! It's been so swampy lately that we haven't been eating on the deck - it was delightful. Kasper discovered making faces on the screen. It was hilarious and I won't think about how filthy that screen is.

The San Francisco Diaries: Sonoma - Day 1

I know you've all been waiting for San Francisco pictures. You're in luck because there are tons of them! Most of the pictures are mine but I also borrowed some from Emily and Jess.

I don't know the exact times, but we left Minneapolis around 5:30ish and got into San Francisco around 7:30ish? Anyway, it was evening. Emily was already at the airport picking up our transportation for the first couple days. We headed to her apartment, dumped our bags and went to a little Mediterranean place for dinner. If you'll recall, I had started antibiotics a day or 2 before we left for my strep throat so I had a tough flight and I wasn't feeling all that well the first night.

Luckily I felt MUCH better the next day and every day after. We had an AMAZING breakfast at a place called Zazie. Highly recommended. We loaded back in the car and headed to Sonoma (by way of Lombard St.)!

(It's not super clear but the person in the middle spot in the middle row was actually sitting on a milk crate with a pillow on it! Ha! It's hard to fit 8 people in a car.)

Our first stop was Chalk Hill.

What a view, huh?? Funny side story, as we were having our tasting, the lady was telling us about the vineyards grounds and how they have this amazing entertainment area where people have fancy weddings and parties. You can see it above - it's the large building on the right side. I think they even have a cooking school or something! We drove around the event site before we left and it was beautiful! My Mom and I knew my sister is coming to a wedding out in Sonoma this fall so I asked where it was. Wouldn't you know it's at Chalk Hill!! Lucky! I can't wait to see pictures.

Next we stopped at Hanna.

While the wine here wasn't my favorite, the grounds were beautiful. The grape vines grew right up to the parking lot so you could get a nice close look at the fruit.

The driveway is lined with lavender which just perfumed the car.

While Jess and I were wandering around taking pictures, we didn't realize 3 of us were sitting in the car ready to go. The remaining 3 of us didn't realize either and were giggling in the middle of the parking lot about who knows what. Hahaha! It was actually pretty hilarious. Two vineyards in and we were already pretty silly!

We decided to get some more food in our bellies so we stopped at a little place called Jimtown which was like a little country store but it had delicious food.

We got some cheese, olives and warm, fresh french bread for a picnic.

We brought our food to White Oak where we actually skipped the tasting and just bought full glasses of wine. We found a patio table and had an AMAZING meal. It was just such a fun experience.

We headed into Healdsburg to bum around for a bit, stopping first to take advantage of some nice evening light.

Our hotel was in Santa Rosa so we got to go to the Russian River Brewery for dinner! I had never heard of it before, probably because you can't find their beers in MN. Since I've been home, I feel like I hear about it all over the place!

Whew! That was just Day 1!! Looks like we had fun, huh?
