Bye July!
Papa got home Monday! The kids were so excited. He got home, filled up the pool, then picked them up early from daycare. What a fun surprise!

Field trip for Kappy!

The kids were playing outside on Tuesday and Marlo came in with an enormous bite on her knee. Soon after, she had a fever over 102. I was pretty convinced they were related. (I don't really think that anymore.) Anyway, she was still warm in the morning and daycare is very quick to take temps so she stayed home with me. We actually got coffee with Papa and did a little Pokemon hunting before he had to go to work.

She convinced me to go to a playground on the way home. Thought she wanted to walk then re-decided on the playground

I had an audience while I did my exercising.

Where she chose to eat lunch.

After dinner walk. Since we've been playing Pokemon, I've been walking about 18K steps a day. It's a good workout!

Rob and I got Steph to come over and watch the kids while we went to a Twins game! This was the make up game for the one we were supposed to see in May. It was fun! And it was a beautiful night.

Someone isn't supposed to have toys at the table.

Kasper also likes Pokemons so he and Rob went to walk around the block. Kasper chose to ride his trike and apparently spent the whole ride embarrassed that he was on a trike and wishing no one would see him riding it. He got through by doing cool riding tricks.

Marlo woke up crying in the early morning Saturday talking about bugs in her room. She had 15-20 mosquito bites all over her arms, legs and hands. She did not get a fever so thankfully that was just a fluke thing. Then she decided to up the allergen testing and got stung by a bald faced hornet which are apparently notoriously ruthless SOBs. And they are HUGE. See the pic below? Sting on her back, 3 mosquito bites on her arm. She screamed bloody murder but I think that was because it was crawling up her neck. Probably to sting again until Papa barehanded it to a swift end. I iced it and never heard another peep about it! I've been stung as an adult and whined more than she did.

Later, Rob found the football-sized hornet's nest under the deck and went all exterminator on that sucker, emptying three cans of nasty stuff on the nest and its (late) dive-bombing occupants.
We brought up the idea of a movie night in the afternoon and Kasper burst into tears. He refuses to watch new movies and would not step foot in a theater. He admitted that he didn't like "all those people sitting in there." Someday we'll have to dive deeper into that one. He was very anxious about having to watch a new movie that isn't Cars or Planes so Rob looked up movies that didn't have any "conflict or emotional intensity." He settled on Robin Hood and convinced Kasper to watch 10 minutes of it before dinner. I heard him shrieking with glee from our room. He watched the whole thing with only a little anxiety when all the animals were in chains but got through and did TONS of laughing. Any other recommendations for movies that are good for kids who don't like conflict?
She was ready to go to bed before the movie was over. Traumatic night.

I think her pjs were hot. She asked to change while we were still in bed.

This morning we got up and went for a walk on the trails by our house.

These were too fun.

Marlo rubbed sunscreen in her eyes while we were still in the driveway so was mostly crying in the stroller. She did get out to throw a rock into the lake.

Biking home

She just wanted her brother.

I mean, can you even handle those looks?
After naps the boys set up a huge jump from the deck to the ground. Marlo sent the cars down and Kasper tried to catch them. It was sweet.

We had dinner with Grandpa Steve and the kids were excited to go to bed.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
