8th-Birthday Eve!

Rob's firm does something for the kids for almost every holiday. It's so sweet. For Christmas, they sent aprons and a cookie decorating kit. They were really good cookies, too. 

 

The main floor of the house was framed this week! It's so exciting to watch it take shape! It looked so small without the rooms framed but now it looks less like a dollhouse and more like a family could live in it. 

It was looking like Xcel wasn't going to be able to give us power until sometime in January which would've been less than ideal, but our site manager made it happen. Xcel came and put ground warmers so they can do the work next week!

We went over today and had lunch in the warm basement! There's another gas heater in the basement to keep the floor thawed so they can dig to install the plumbing which made it nice and toasty in there. 

 

That grey barrel to the right of Kasper is our sewage ejector so that's cool.

Going up!

 This week flew by again! It feels like the days are so much shorter when it's dark by 4:30. It was a pretty average week with the exception of Wednesday where we crammed in 2 vendor appointments and a mechanical meeting. Oy.

 

The fun news this week is that the walls are going up! And we got 9" of snow between Friday and Saturday.

There's still another story going on top of that sucker. It's going to be a talllllllll house from the side. Thanks wetland buffer zone. This lot sat for years because no one was willing to make it work. What works is a tall square so that's what we get. At least we'll have killer views.

Llama love

 Is it December already?!?  The house started to be framed this week. Boy that sure makes a difference to have walls up!

The kids got their second shots! Crossing our fingers for a healthy winter. 

It snowed a little last night so today we got to see the lot whiter than normal. And we could walk on the main floor! 

 

After stopping by the house we went to a fun Christmas event happening over in our neck of the woods. The place where the kids spend a few weeks at summer camp has been transformed into a Christmas village and it was so neat. They had food trucks, animals, shopping. The kids LOVED the llamas. You could take them for a walk! 

As a top notch animal lover, Marlo doesn't love actually being near animals. Most times one looked at her, she ran away. They were so sweet. We liked this little lady, Bailey. Kappy was especially smitten.

Marlo eventually warmed up to Bailey.

 

We even pushed our luck and got the kids to sit by reindeer. Marlo said it felt like a sleigh with reindeer doors.
