30 weeks

30 weeks! That means that 9 weeks from today, Kasper will have officially spent more of his life on the outside than in my belly. Maybe that's only significant to a mother.

We had another busy week. I'm starting to get used to living with all these boxes so maybe we don't have to unpack them! Ha.

This was an interesting week for Kasper on the sleep front. It started last weekend but I didn't want to say anything and jinx it but he has been putting himself to sleep at night! He was always pretty good at going to bed, but I had to make sure he was sleeping when I laid him down otherwise the eyes would snap open. This week, after nursing K would writhe around and couldn't get comfortable in my arms so I just set him in his crib awake and without a paci. Not only does he fall to sleep on his own but he hasn't woken up in the middle of the night ALL WEEK. (I'm sure I've jinxed it now.) My baby is growing up and doesn't need his Mama to help him fall asleep anymore.

We're still working on crawling. Kasper can get onto his hands and knees in record time but still can't get any forward movement.

We've really been expanding our baby food menu here at Chez Williams. We now serve sweet taters, butternut squash, green beans, applesauce, bananas, avocado, zucchini and carrots. I'm glad that the farmers markets are full of veggies! We started giving K a sippy cup at meals but he definitely doesn't grasp the concept yet. I also give him the spoon to allow him to attempt to feed himself.

Daycare continues to be awesome. I am SO glad we are at the new center. It's so fun to pick him up at the end of the day and hear all about what he did. They always provide such fun activities even for the little kids! K loves to dance for the teachers. It's so cute. He heads home pretty tuckered out.

We took Kasper to the Dr on Thursday for a weight check. Since he only gained about a pound from 4-6 months and has been at the new daycare for a month eating more during the day, we thought it was a good idea to see if he was getting back on track in the weight department. He's up over a pound for the month! I was so happy! He's back up to the 25%. Hopefully he continues to be a hearty eater.

Rob picked up a Burley trailer for his bike this week and was so excited to use it Saturday morning. It was a major fail. Kasper has a super small head and even the smallest baby helmets are too big. We tried adding a hat under the helmet to add some bulk but it wasn't enough. He hated it.

Rob scrapped the nice bike ride to a coffee shop in favor of a quick ride around the block. Kasper enjoyed it for a couple minutes but then remembered he hated the helmet. Maybe next summer his head will have grown the 2 inches we need to have the helmet fit.

After the ill-fated bike ride, we laid Kasper down for a what-turned-out-to-be-a-3-hour nap and Rob went around the yard with a metal detector to find our property line markers.

We're getting our new fence installed Tuesday! Then we don't have to walk around with Lois when she goes to the bathroom and get eaten alive by the mutant Eden Prairie mosquito.

Rob's Mom came down Saturday evening and we got to get away for dinner with friends! We went to Barrio and had some DELICIOUS food. I was very impressed with the food! I'm already craving that tortilla soup! We ran some errands today for different lighting options for the kitchen and K's room. One day I'll post new pictures of the house. No promises when.

Another weekend gone. Luckily this week doesn't look as crazy as the last couple have been. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

29 weeks

We made it through our first week in the new house! It's amazing how fast a new place can feel like "home." I so missed our little house on Emerson at this time last week but now it feels like a distant memory.

Unfortunately we didn't get much done with the house this week. With the baby and other after work things, it seems like we finally have some time around 9 pm and by then all we can do is relax for an hour and head to bed. We have been enjoying the sunroom like it's going out of style. It's a wonderful place to be in the mornings and it's equally relaxing after work. Kasper, Lois and I like to do our playing in there after work and before I start on dinner.

You get the idea. (Cute kid, huh?)

My good friend Bethany was in town this weekend for a high school friend's wedding. She got in Friday night and came right over to our house to hang out and meet Kasper. It was so good to see her - I hadn't seen her for about a year. Said high school friend's wedding was Saturday night. It's always so great to see old friends again. We brought K to the ceremony and to part of the reception. We were thinking we'd run him home after dinner, but he didn't last that long before getting too squirrely. My parents came over after doing the Warrior Dash Saturday morning. While we were at the wedding, they and my sister did some painting and sewing projects. Yes, we're incredibly lucky to have so many people willing to help us with this move. If not for all the help, I'm not sure we would ever be able to get unpacked. They were nice enough to take care of the baby and put him to bed when he had to leave the wedding.

They stayed overnight and we did some more painting today. We thought we would need a couple gallons of paint for the upstairs living/dining room so we just got a 5 gallon bucket of grey paint. Somehow it took just over 1 gallon so we have tons of grey paint left over. That made the decision easy for what color to paint the basement. Grey. We still have a little over half of that paint left. Behr Paint & Primer is very good paint apparently.

I'll have to take photos of our progress so far. The painting is almost done and then we can move onto the decorating.

Since this is Kasper's 29 week update, I would remiss if I didn't talk about the little guy. He is so close to crawling. Starting today, he is able to get himself on his hands and knees from his stomach. He hasn't figured out how to move his legs and arms together to move forward, but he can get into position. Time to get baby gates. He has a little cold this weekend and it's wreaking some havoc on his sleep the last couple nights and naps. He's been up 3-4 times a night the last couple nights. Ugh. We tried green beans today. Not a fan. Kasper was actually gagging on them. He would keep the spoonful in the roof of his mouth for awhile then totally gag on the beans. We'll have to try them again another time.

So things are good! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

(Don't be fooled. He slept for about 15 minutes until I laid him down.)

Belated 28 weeks

Me again! I wanted to write Kasper's 28 week post before he's 29 weeks. I write these posts as much for myself as anyone else because I like to look back to see how much he's grown. And MY how he's grown.

K was a total trooper during the move. (So was Lois - she was made to live in Eden Prairie.) I think Kas had a bit of a growth spurt late last week and this weekend because it seemed like he was constantly hungry. He was waking up 3-4 times a night and would eat ravenously. It made for some sleepless nights and reminded me of the newborn days. The nursery was the first room we painted so we could set up Kasper's crib and changing table and get him back into his familiar surroundings.

It's been so fun to watch Kasper play in his new house. With all of the carpet, we can just plop him down and he plays for hours. He is a very reliable sitter now and always wants to be sitting and playing.

Here's a nice look at the deck from the other side of the sunroom. We need to get a table out there for grilling! And I don't know if I mentioned it in the previous post but there are no stairs leading down from the deck so it's perfect dog and soon baby containment.

Now that we have the room, I broke out the highchair for the boy! It actually straps onto one of our kitchen chairs. Sigh. My little baby is getting so big.

K is up to 3 meals a day. I'm still not so great at introducing new foods every 3-4 days but we've added oatmeal, squash and applesauce. At daycare, Kasper is eating at least 15 ounces of milk a day plus breakfast and lunch. I feed him dinner when we get home. I think he's finally getting the amount of food he needs to grow. He's getting noticeably heavier and looks more filled out. I don't want to jump to conclusions but I hope that he wasn't going hungry at the old daycare. Ugh. He's eating well at daycare, sleeping well at daycare. His teachers love him and never miss an opportunity to tell us so. His interests at daycare include but are not limited to: dancing, going outside, being on his belly and looking at the other kids. These are some of the notes on his report cards. I am so in love with this place. I'm happy he gets to spend time with other kids at a place he really enjoys.

So, Kasper is doing awesome. He becomes more and more of a little toddler every day. In fact, I think he's going to CRAWL soon.

Stay tuned.

I'll leave you with some pictures of Kasper and Lois from Sunday morning.
