Snowshoeing abenture

We decided to go on a abenture Sunday morning. It was a beautiful day, there was some fresh(ish) snow on the ground and our snowshoes were calling! We went to a little park by our house. We are so lucky to have so much nature around us and don't have to travel far from home to feel like we are getting away!

This is how Kasper looked most of the walk. I tried to push the neck warmer down but it kept riding up. He didn't mind.

Oscar Night

This week just FLEW by! We were busy almost every day after work which makes it feel like there aren't enough hours in a day.

Kasper's daycare was closed Monday so we stayed home with him. I had called the Dr. about the fifth disease but the rash was much better Monday and all that I had read said you just had to wait it out so I cancelled the appointment. Luckily the rash didn't spread from his face and things got better as the week went on.

We had gymnastics again on Thursday and had a great time! At the end of class, the gym owner let us into the big main gym to run down the tumble track! It's a long trampoline with a foam ball pit at the end. It was so fun! Kasper would run down and jump right into the pit! I did it with him the first time but had a heck of a time getting myself back out. It was like quicksand - the more I moved the more I sunk into the pit.

We had some successes with potty training this week! Kasper always sits on the potty as his bath is being drawn but this week he actually went 3 times! Maybe that means the interest is building??

Kasper likes to pay in the tub and this night was so darn cute I couldn't stop with the pictures. You don't mind, do you?

After his bath, Kasper sits on the counter and brushes his teeth and drinks water. Always with his towel hood on. I want to remember that.

Yesterday was the last day of swimming lessons. After that first class, Kasper really enjoyed himself! He passed the class but has to wait until he's 3 before he can move on. He loves being in the water.

I came across a copy of the video we made for Kasper's first birthday. Remember this? Kasper and I watched it twice. I only cried the first time through! He LOVED watching that video. He would comment on how silly the baby was when he would laugh or cry. I don't know if he realizes it's him.

On a strange note, Kasper started stuttering yesterday! When he starts a question with "what" he stutters pretty bad. Something to keep an eye on and I just wanted to mention it here in case I have to look back on it. He's still pretty young but it's a little weird. It frustrated him somewhat today when he couldn't get the word out. Sigh. However, some interneting I just did suggests this is pretty normal for littles his age. We'll keep an ear on it.

Today we went snowshoeing! I'll write about that later in the week so check back!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

A Fifth of Fun!

We had a pretty fun week over here though it ended on a slightly low note. More on that later. Something I want to remember about this week was how Kasper loved talking about toast. He would ask for "toast with jelly and honey and pam (incorrect Spanish word for bread) and toast." Sometimes he would request it "in about 20 minutes."

I was really in to taking pictures of Kasper sleeping this week. I blame it on the flash.

We did some re-decorating in the dining room that I'll have to take pictures of soon.

(Side note, like the palindrome Rob made up on the chalkboard?)

I made Kasper pose with this heart garland for Valentine's Day, which you've already seen.

He's so darn cute. In the spirit of the day of love, it's fitting this was the first week Kasper really started saying "I love you" correctly and sometimes he even said it FIRST! One night I laid him down for bed but when I walked out he sat up and cried. When I went back in, he said he wanted a kiss. I gave him a kiss, he said "I love you, Mama" and laid down and went to sleep. Melt my heart.

We were supposed to go to gymnastics on Thursday but traffic prevented all of us from getting to gymnastics on time. Rob had plans to go skiing so I took my little Valentine out for dinner. We were the only ones at the restaurant and we had a great time! Even bath time was a treat.

Another wake up pic. I have been having to wake him up in the mornings lately. I wonder if he's going to be a late sleeper like his Mama! On the weekends, he's been sleeping until after 8!

Rob and I got to get out for a date night on Friday in honor of Valentine's Day. We finally tried The Bachelor Farmer! First we had a drink at the bar downstairs. The drinks were delicious and the servers were a joy! We had a great time chatting with our server! Our favorite part was the ice in the drinks.

Apparently they order 300 pound chunks of carving ice and chop it up with an ice pick into big cubes. "Maximum chilling, minimum dilution." And really freaking cool looking. Dinner was also amazing and we had so much fun getting time to ourselves. (We did get a text from my sister that K had a slight fever...)

We woke up and headed up to St. Cloud yesterday morning. Kasper was still out of sorts and clearly not feeling his best. We did some playing until naptime when Kasper took a nap in a big boy bed!! He slept about 3 hours and just sat in bed when he woke up until I went in there. Maybe he's finally ready to move to a big bed!
Big boy bed nap at grandma and grandpa's house. Maybe he's ready!

I remember these smooth cheeks fondly.

Kasper slept in the big boy bed all night. I guess he was up for about an hour in the middle of the night but he didn't get out of bed. Just kicked the wall and did some singing. When I went in to get him in the morning. His left cheek was super red and his right one had a couple spots.

A quick Google search and call to the pediatrician office told me it was most likely fifth disease.

The rash spread more throughout the day and I expect it to keep spreading. Kasper itches it a bit but it doesn't seem to be too painful.

Tim! We had a early birthday brunch for my Dad and me since my parents will be in New Zealand over the b-days.

As of tonight, both cheeks are totally red and it's also spreading to his neck and ears. It's so sad looking!! Hopefully it doesn't last too long! I guess once the rash shows up he's no longer contagious which is good. It doesn't seem to sour his mood much!
