Summer wrap up

Where does the time go?? Summer went fast as a kid - I think it goes faster as an adult.

Let's see...

This week Kasper had a scoliosis check up. His curvature was 5% 6 months ago and now it's 2%. As he's growing his spine is thankfully staying on track instead of getting more off track. While there I got to have a look at his shark teeth. Rob and I together lost maybe 2 teeth naturally. The rest were pulled. And remember both kids had only 2 teeth until they were 18+ months old. DOOMED.


Wednesday was Marlo's turn to get a strep test. She was complaining about a stomach ache Tuesday evening. Wednesday morning she was still complaining about it. I just took her right in because Kasper had the same weird symptoms. Neither really had a sore throat! So I took her in for a strep test. She's dancing around, singing, acting completely normal. I told the nurse I would never have brought in her under normal circumstances but her brother currently had strep, etc, etc. They took the swab, walked out, walked back in in less than 2 minutes. The rapid test changed color instantly. Ha!




Friday we headed up to St. Cloud to celebrate Steph's birthday! We did some shopping, lots of eating. We solved an escape room in town that no group of 4 has ever solved. And in the second fastest time ever! Harriet LOVED Lois and gave her so many hugs and cuddles.


Even tried to take a nap on her.




Marlo found every toy that made noise and played the noises over and over and over.


We left Kasper up in St. Cloud for the week since he has no child care until school starts. Marlo cried as we left. She'll miss her bruder. The pool cheered her up when we got home.













Marlo was asleep as I walked out of her room. She was tired! It's been a great summer.

Dog days

We are in the dog days of summer now. It hasn't rained in weeks, it's about 90 degrees and humid everyday. Uff da!

We had a pretty quiet week. Kasper had his end of summer carnival Wednesday at Explorers. The older kids set up and manned the games and the younger kids played.




Thursday morning Kappy woke up with a sore throat, headache and stomach ache. His throat didn't look red, he didn't have a fever and he ate a good breakfast so off he went! He played all day and the report was he was fine. He was still complaining after dinner so off he went to Urgent Care. Strep throat! I had a strong suspicion that's what it was with those 3 symptoms and it was a good learning experience for me that you can have strep without your throat being red at all.


So Kap got to go to work with Rob Friday!




I had work I had to do and I don't have an office so thankfully Kasper was happy to play his tablet for a couple hours (ahem.). I took the light rail the 3 stops down to Rob's office, gathered the boy and took him back to campus. It was a highlight of his day.


We had a mostly free weekend which hasn't happened in a long time! Kasper marveled at breakfast yesterday morning how it feels to him that he hasn't had a weekend in forever! After breakfast the kids and I went for a walk.



In the afternoon we went to a friends house for a waterslide party which was super fun then this morning we met the Oehlers for brunch! We hadn't seen them in so long Harriet is a walker now! The rest of today was errands, legos, coloring, big dinner. We're refreshed for the final week of our crazy summer schedule.

Lost Lake!

We had our annual trip to Lost Lake Lodge at the end of this week so I treated myself to the entire week off! I'm still adjusting to my new family duties and was feeling a little stretched. You'll be happy to know that I managed to fill 3 days with a mix of things I hadn't been able to get to yet this summer and absolutely nothing. In a weird twist of fate, I felt compelled to throw a random piece of paper away in the kitchen on Monday. Turns out it was a spa gift certificate my parents gave me 2 Christmases ago that I totally forgot about. WHAT A GIFT! I called and they had an 80 min massage appointment Tuesday morning. The universe was smiling on me this week.


Thursday morning we headed up to Lost Lake Lodge!


We got up to Lake Country early so we stopped and played mini golf.








Then Kasper felt brave enough to ride a go kart. He has quite the lead foot.

We got home around 3, marveled at all the stuff my parents did around the house this weekend and prepared ourselves for a full week ahead. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
