Bye January

It's hard to believe it will be February tomorrow. The days are long but the months are short.

The kids were home most of the week while the teachers recombined schools and classrooms. I'm crossing my fingers we've had our last distance learning day behind us.

Kasper had 3 teeth pulled and a cavity filled this week. This poor kid has a long road ahead of him in the mouth department. We should start saving for braces now.

On Fridays we eat pizza and watch a movie in the sunroom. The kids always sit like this. Why? Because they can?

We forced the children to get some fresh air and exercise. No one could keep up with Papa -- Marlo said her legs ran out of batteries.

It'll be back to almost normal tomorrow -- both kids back at the same school! Finally! Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Lazy

We had a normal, lazy week this week! The kids went to school, I went to work, Rob had the quiet house to himself to make all the important phone calls he could hope for.

We had exactly zero plans this weekend. We slept in, enjoyed the snow, ate meals at weird time.

Today we got outside to enjoy the sunshine. It was a beautiful day! This week will be our last wonky week for awhile (fingers crossed) as the kids will be home for most of it while 4th and 5th grades are moved from the high school back to their home schools. Next week the kids will both be at the same school! Kasper is really looking forward to it if for no other reason than the 40 minute later start.

Of course the most fun part was the plow pile in the parking lot.

Kasper is getting 2-3 of those teeth pulled this week!

Black belt!

We had a pretty normal distance learning week this week. The kids start back at school again tomorrow so it was a little hard to stay focused, but we did it!

Marlo, of course, did some creating.

She made a pencil out of paper. And a real pencil. And a huge eraser. Also, I completely gave up after new years and I think the kids wore their pjs every single day. You (hopefully) only have pandemic forced distance learning once in your life. Why not wear pjs.

The biggest news this weekend is that Kasper tested for his black belt in tae kwon do! It has been a 4 year journey and we are so proud of him for keeping with it! Black belt tests are done four times a year and are usually a big deal but with the pandemic, the kids tested in small groups of four and couldn't touch each other when doing their self defense moves. Even though it was scaled way, way down, it was still a very special day and with the small group, the instructors had the time to say really nice, personal things to each kid.

It's back to school tomorrow and the kids are excited! I think Rob is less excited about the 7:30 am drop offs in the morning. Starting in February, both kids will be back at the same school!  And with 8:15 drop-offs!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

New Year!

We started the new year with Kasper's 10th birthday! Double digits! Kasper asked for breakfast for all meals, a Treatzza Pizza and an outside adventure.

Rob and Marlo did some sledding.

On January 5, Rob turned 41! He requested pie.

The biggest news this week was Marlo got a haircut! She was finally ready so I made an appointment! As soon as we walked in, she whispered she had made a big mistake and she wasn't ready, but she persevered and after the cut said she wanted to get her hair cut every day because she loved it!

9" cut off!

IMG_1696 IMG_1701 IMG_1704 IMG_1706 IMG_1707 It's still long but it seems so short! She loves it so much and it doesn't snarl anymore so she can wear it down. After it was cut, the baby curl came back!

Doesn't she look older!?

But fear not, she still grabs all the cardboard boxes and makes things out of them. In this instance, a bed resembling Garfield's.

Here's to 2021! It's already been quite the ride 10 days in but there's nowhere to go but up, right?
