I remember summer when I was a kid. 3 months of lazy days. That is not what we're living at the moment. We seem to be even busier with our normal schedule and summer things added on top. Blah.

Marlo celebrated her half birthday this week and is excited to say she's 3 and a half now.

A deer in our neighbors' yard one evening. It was getting dark and I was afraid of scaring it but we usually don't see antlers in the neighborhood!


I convinced Marlo to ride her bike while I did my normal walking loop. She was a champ for 2.5 of the 3 miles. Then I got to carry both her and the bike and my biceps are shredded. Anyone know the name of this flower? I know it was growing from a big spiky weed but it's gorgeous!





It was cool here this weekend and Marlo's pant options drove home the fact that she's grown about 2.5 inches since December.

Today I convinced her to go on an adventure with me before going to Target. It felt like fall!




Kasper had a couple birthday parties this weekend and I feel like I barely saw him! We need these weekends with few big plans every so often. At least I do. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Happy Father's Day!

Our first week of summer vacation is done!

Monday, Grandma Sandra came to hang out with Kappy.


Monday night the kids were excited to camp in the yard, but the forecast wasn't too favorable. So up went the tent in the basement!





Marlo lasted about this long. When I went to go upstairs she cried. Probably better that she was in her own bed.



Tuesday, Rob stayed home and they had a day of adventures.



(That pile in the chair is Marlo's "Frozen boat." She found everything in the house that had to do with Frozen and made a heap. Cool, right? It has since been replaced by a Moana pile.)


Wednesday was the first day of summer Explorer's Club for Kasper. I picked him up and the poor kid looked exhausted. He said he was "so bored" which is impossible. He also said that none of his good friends were there and he spent a lot of time looking for a good friend he heard was there, but whom he never actually found (and most likely wasn't even there). It was heartbreaking, to be honest. I felt like I was failing him by working and not giving him a summer. After I picked him up we went to tae kwon do and he broke down in tears. He sat with me in the audience as we talked about how comforting it was that he was in class with the same friends even though he had to get to know new kids all day. After 10 minutes he was ready to rejoin the class and actually had a wonderful class. After tae kwon do we stopped at the grocery store to get ice cream. We got to see a fire truck and even saw the firefighters and chatted with them for a few minutes.


Thursday was a better day for Kasper. He has his mother's approach to new crowds! On Friday, he was home with pink eye, which wasn't all bad for him either since it was the viral kind so not too itchy or goopy. And Marlo? During all this time she was (according to her teachers) the best-behaved and happiest kid in her class, and the only reliable nap-taker. Unfortunately, she was still classic Marlo at home each evening so it wasn't a bait-and-switch. Alas.

We had no plans this weekend! What a treat!

























Today was Father's Day! Rob chose to go out to eat and play disc golf. Marlo chose her own outfit.
