25 weeks

What a week! Kasper was not, in fact, on the mend last Sunday. His fever spiked back up to 102 and was basically 100-102 from Friday until Tuesday evening. We waited it out until Tuesday when I brought him in. It was an ear infection. His first! We came home with some amoxicillin and he has been FINALLY feeling better. At least on the ear infection front. He's still deep in a wonder week which has only complicated things.

Sleep was a challenge this week as Kasper was not feeling well. Starting Sunday, he got this horrible stuffy nose that I couldn't suck out. Pair that with a fever and he didn't feel like eating, couldn't sleep. Blah. My Mom came down to be with him Monday since he couldn't go to daycare with the fever. When I got home and took his temp - 102, I finally gave him some Tylenol. (The nurse line didn't want me to give it if the fever was under 102) He perked right up and even got to do some playing!

We headed to the Dr at 7 am Tuesday morning where we got the ear infection diagnosis. I took the day off Tuesday to be with my boy. Before going to the pharmacy, we stopped and had a bagel and coffee. Then we browsed around Trader Joes! Then we finally went to Target to get the antibiotic. I love giving Kasper's birthday when I have to. 1-1-11. So easy! And it always gets a reaction. Then the pharmacist asked what Kasper weighed that day for mixing the medicine. He was up to 15.8 pounds. Still just a little guy!

As Tuesday wore on the fever broke and K realized that he didn't feel well. I think the fever sort of dulled the pain. Our day at home together wasn't everything I had dreamed. I was not allowed to put the baby down. If I did managed to wrangle out of his grasp, I was not allowed to leave his sight. I obliged and we took some nice naps together and had many snuggles. It was his first real illness and I'd like to think that being able to have me home was a comfort to him.

I had to give him pedialyte with a little dropper to help him stay hydrated. He couldn't nurse very well with the stuffy nose and wouldn't drink the pedialyte out of a bottle. He'll take almost anything with a syringe though.

K went back to daycare on Wednesday but wasn't feeling himself until Friday. His last day at his current daycare is this Friday July 1. I know that the ladies there are really going to miss him. They always talk about what a good, happy baby he is. On Tuesday while I was home daycare called me to see how he was feeling and to tell me that they missed him! Maybe all daycares do that, but I thought it was so sweet. K actually has his 6 month checkup on the 1st and I was going to stay home since he gets shots, but I think I'll send him to daycare so that everyone can say goodbye. I get the feeling that they want as much time with them as they can get. I totally understand. One of the girls even offered to nanny for us!

So this week was a real challenge but we made it! We rewarded ourselves by having Grandma Sandra come down to watch the boy yesterday while we went to see King Tut at the Science Museum and went out for sushi! Grandma Sandra found Kasper a Oregon Ducks onesie! He loved it.

We're getting more serious about packing since we have less than 3 weeks until we move. While I was putting some of Kasper's things away, I found the little knit hat he wore home from the hospital. I had misplaced that thing months ago and was always so sad that I thought I had lost it. It was so big on him when he was a little peanut. Here he was after his first bath at 2 weeks old.

And here he is now. This picture is totally blurry but I love his little face in the center.

Sigh.

Unfortunately we didn't get to work much on sitting this week. We tried this weekend and he is getting better but he's nowhere near sitting on his own. I can't wait until he can sit and play. We also tried bananas a couple more times this week. No go. He does not care for bananas but loves rice cereal and avocados. Next up - sweet potatoes!

Another weekend gone. It was a good one, though. Kasper was finally his happy self, Rob and I got away to do some things on our own and we spent the day as a family today. We even got out for a walk around Lake Harriet when the sun came out! Kasper rode in his BOB without the infant car seat! He's a little too small to ride with the seat all the way up, so we reclined it and he relaxed while we walked. I think he even caught some shut eye. I missed that sweet, content baby

Week 25 - The week of ear infection #1. And not much else.

Home Sweet Home

(Does anyone else sing the Motley Crue song when they read that title? It's been in my head for hours already.)

Anyway, we will not be homeless when we move out of our house on July 14! We will be moving right into this beauty!

She can be found in Eden Prairie on a half acre lot! It's currently owned by an older couple who have taken VERY good care of it. They don't have the decorating visions we have, but that can be fixed.

We're very excited to be moving up! The next 3 weeks will be busy, that's for sure. We'll give you more peeks when we get in there.

24 weeks

Another week gone by, huh?

We spent the week continuing to look at houses in the evening along with various other appointments.

On Friday, Kasper came home with a little fever and was pretty much done with his day.

When he went to bed Saturday night, his fever was a bit higher so we gave him some Tylenol. At about midnight a huge storm rolled through and woke everyone up, so Kasper got to sleep in bed with his parents! For some reason his diaper decided to leak. Yay. He was burning up and miserable Sunday morning. He was this whimpering, limp, red baby. It was so sad! I stayed in bed with him most of the morning. (He's totally sleeping in this picture! He even looked miserable in his sleep!)

Kasper had a highish fever all of Saturday. He would feel better after Tylenol and a nap but soon enough he was burning up again and needed another dose. This pic is blurry but see how red? He was trying to rally and play in his jumper.

We did try bananas at one point since we had ripe bananas. They were his least favorite food so far.

He was able to sleep Saturday night and woke up almost back to normal. He still has a low-grade fever but it's under 100 and he's smiling and playing so hopefully it's behind us. I know it was only a little fever, but I just felt so bad for the poor kid. It's the worst he's felt in his short life and he was so out of sorts. It kind of changed our weekend plans, but that was ok. We've been so busy maybe he wanted to just stay home. We did manage to get out to meet friends for dinner at Sea Salt. It was raining but we found a table inside and had a delicious dinner! It felt good to leave the house and Kasper had a great time! We always love hanging out with those guys. Hi Anna and Pete!

Things are looking up!

Today is Rob's first Father's Day! It's too bad the kiddo wasn't feeling 100%. We had a fun day planned but decided to only do step 1: brunch then home for a nap.

Kasper and Papa! Side note - I'm dying to know what color Kasper's eyes are going to be! I've heard they start changing between 6-9 months. They've changed from blue to grey so far.

We had a CSA share last summer from a place near our house called Tangletown Gardens. We decided not to do it again since we were going to be moving. Anyway, they started a restaurant called Wise Acre Eatery across the street where they serve foods and meats grown and raised on their farm. It was fabulous! As we were eating, we got a little sad that we'll be moving away from this neighborhood. There is a lot of good stuff around here!

We scrapped the rest of the day so K could relax at home. And that's not a bad thing.

Happy Father's Day!

Kasper Butts Drive Me Nuts

*I changed the title of this post. I like this one better. It makes me giggle.

I was going to call this "the" blackmail post but let's face it, there are probably going to be many embarrassing pictures he will prefer his girlfriends not see. Without further ado - Kasper and his super cute baby butt.
