Low-key
We played it pretty close to home this week and weekend.
After not feeling 100% last weekend, Kasper ended up getting whatever crud was going around daycare and spent the beginning of the week with a hacking cough. He had a fitful night Tuesday night and when he woke up Wednesday he was clingy and whiny and just wanted to be held. Rob and I both had to be at work in the morning so I told Kasper I would call daycare after my meeting and if he was still feeling crummy I could come and get him. I called and they told me he wasn't his normal active self, couldn't get settled for a morning nap and wasn't interested in eating. I was already feeling a pretty hefty dose of working mothers' guilt for dropping him off in the first place so I dropped everything and went to pick up my boy. I didn't get a chance to eat lunch and Kasper wasn't interested in his at daycare so I heated up some food and gave him some cheerios. We ended up having a super fun lunch and Kasper even had some bites of cereal. He was being soooooo silly - I loved it.
I figured I could make it up to him for leaving him in the morning by letting him nap in his bed and nap he did. He took a 2.5 hour nap so I was feeling good about bringing him home. We spent the rest of our afternoon playing with the dog and walking around outside.
(Remember when I was lamenting how there were no brooms for kids? Grandma Sandra found a couple for K's Easter basket! He loves them.)
The good news is that Kasper's cough was almost all gone by Thursday!
The bad news is that I started getting the crud Wednesday and it still hasn't gotten any better. Ugh. I haven't had a full night's sleep since then. It hasn't been the best week/weekend for me being stuck in this head tunnel.
Yesterday I made ebelskivers filled with nutella for breakfast then we headed off to Ikea to browse around. After lunch Kasper went down for his long nap. When he woke up, he was happy. We played and had some snacks.
(I love these pics of K and Lois. They pretty much sum up snack time.)
Before long, Kasper's mood took a terrible turn for the worse. He was crabby, whiny, clingy, generally unpleasant. It was really bringing our Saturday down especially since I already felt like crap. We just had tuna sammies for dinner to make it easy and the kid ate half my sandwich! Plus some banana and yogurt. During and after dinner, he was SO fun and we were all having a great time. I took some videos that I'll share later. Even though he had some snacks after his nap, I think the poor kid was just super hungry. That made us feel like awesome parents. He really turned our Saturday around at bedtime. He is just such a silly kid.
We met up with some friends for breakfast. Lily was at Kasper's birthday party where they had fun playing. She turns 4 this week and was so cute with K. She shared her toys and even played little tickling games with him.
Kasper took another epic nap this afternoon and for dinner, Steve and Carol came over to make Steve's famous Cornish Pasties!
While the pasties baked, Grandpa Steve and Carol got down on the floor to do some playing with the boy. He was a happy baby and had so much fun. He was really chatting up a storm.
The pasties were delicious and we were able to take our first wagon ride in a while after dinner.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
