She eats!
Hope everyone had a great week! It was a short one for us, which was nice.
First, I totally forgot to include cute pics of Kasper and Marlo from Marlo's 5 month photoshoot. Are they so sweet??

The new bike high hasn't worn off for Kasper yet. He did lots of riding after school and also took care to clean his bikes often.

Kasper is dressed for neon day at daycare! Marlo also participated and daycare sent me a picture of her with one of her teachers.

My thoughts:
1. OMG how cute!!
2. That diaper is HUGE.
They cloth diaper at daycare and it looks like they use a very absorbent brand! They sometimes change her into her backup clothes because hers don't fit over the diapers. Hahaha!
Kasper playing hide and seek with his Papa. It took Rob awhile to find him.

Marlo has had a deep, junky cough for most of the week. She doesn't have a fever and it doesn't seem to be keeping her up so I haven't taken her in, but she felt miserable in the evenings. More miserable than usual. She would fall asleep in the sling or on the bed and catch a wink while we ate dinner.

On Friday, Rob and Kasper met Kasper's friend from swimming, Nick, at a little fair in town. It was forecasted to rain all weekend so they took advantage of the beautiful day Friday. It sounds like they had an AWESOME time!

With the guys gone, Steph, Marlo and I ate our pizza while we watched some taped So You Think You Can Dance. A summer guilty pleasure for Steph and me. Marlo just sat in my lap and snuggled with me. It was awesome! I don't think Kasper ever sat still. She also blew lots of raspberries.

It was warm Friday and as an update to last week, a $40 wire replacement in our brand new (last year) A/C was the solution to our problem. The loose wire was tripping the circuit on the furnace which is why that wasn't working. I feared we were looking at replacing another appliance. We escaped the expense this time but that furnace's days are numbered.
Saturday morning we decided to get the high chair out and see if Marlo was interested in eating real food! With Kasper I started with cereal on his 5 month birthday and followed the "new food every 2-3 days" schedule as well as made all his purees myself. With Marlo I didn't really have a plan for feeding her but I was pretty sure I didn't have the time or energy to make her food. I started looking into baby led weaning which interested me and loosely decided to start with baby led weaning when Marlo was 6 months. 6 months is the general recommendation right now for moving to solids from a total milk diet. Marlo's pediatrician mentioned some studies where babies who waited until 6 months experienced low iron levels. Anyway, long story short, Marlo was becoming VERY interested in our food so I figured about 5.5 months was ok to try. Sorry in advance for baby's first meal photo overload. She's just so stinking cute.
I started her with a banana. I left the peel on, per baby led weaning's suggestion, to help her pick it up.

She managed to get a chunk off but it was more than she bargained for and came right back out. At this point, I don't expect her to eat much, if anything. It's more about sitting in the high chair, touching the food, tasting it, etc.

I ended up taking the peel off. She wasn't impressed.

Marlo seemed to be having a nice time so we decided to try some iron-fortified cereal. Kasper fed her her very first bites!

She ate a couple bites then spit the rest out. In fact, I'm not sure she swallowed any. She spent the rest of the time chasing the banana around her tray.

These 2.

Kasper and Rob burned sticks yesterday morning until it started to rain. It rained the whole afternoon and evening so we hung out around home. It's hard to not be able to get some energy out. We played school. Kasper was the teacher. We had to do circle time and he quizzed us on colors. If we were right we got stickers. Then he read us a "book". It was pretty fun!

This morning it was still raining - I don't know for sure but I think we got over 4 inches of rain between yesterday and today. Everyone slept in until 7:30 which hasn't happened in a VERY long time. It was likely because Kasper was in the tub at 4:30 after having an accident. That was a bummer this week. When K went into undies at night, he went 2 weeks without a single accident. In St. Cloud over Memorial Day weekend he had 2 and has been wet the majority of nights this week. A little regression, I guess. He's back in pull-ups tonight because getting a bath and bed change in the middle of the night is not good for any of us.
We tried out some of our new swimming gear

Marlo had a heck of a day today. She did NOT want anyone but me to hold her, then I couldn't put her down. When I managed to get free, she would scream when I got out of sight. It turns out she is in another Wonder Week, which makes so much sense. I should look more often to prepare myself when one is on its way. That cough is still hanging around as well. She was not interested in any kind of food today and was very interested in nursing. So that's what we did all day.

Kasper and Rob went on a rain adventure before lunch when the walls were starting to close in on old K. Apparently he touched 2 worms. Kasper is afraid of EVERYTHING creepy crawly.

After nap, Kasper and Rob set up the Playstation in the workshop to play Rock Band. I guess it was fun!

Being in the workshop always makes me start dreaming of projects! That's one of our favorite summer hobbies.
Another week down and it's June already. My baby is barreling towards 6 months old. Why is she in such a hurry to grow up??
