Happy Labor Day!
Remember when we were wearing jackets and pants last week?? This week was the MN State Fair so the temps ramped up to hot and steamy. As it does every year.
That means lots of time outside.

Papa had to run diapers to daycare and peeked in at Marlo eating her breakfast. Yum!

Rob picked the kids up one night since he was done with work early. I pulled up to see them playing outside and the littlest one was eating a BLUE sucker. Her mother would've never let her pick a blue sucker.

Bath night with blue water! Marlo totally ate the last little bit of one of the blue tablets. Probably thought it was a sucker. See above.

We had decided last year to take a day off work and go to the fair because going on a weekend day is the worst idea. Friday it was! A day that was forecast to be 88 degrees and sticky. We took a bus from out where we live instead of driving all the way there. I think it was Kasper's favorite part of the whole day. Marlo survived.

We woke up and headed out so the kids didn't have breakfast or anything. We were thinking we'd get to the fair and start eating. For some reason the kids didn't want to eat anything! The wheels were really starting to fall off and it was only 9 am.

So we got beers.

Eventually we convinced them to eat mini doughnuts and that took the edge off. Thankfully it didn't start getting too hot until later in the morning. And the crowds were totally manageable.

Our first time at the Little Farm Hands exhibit! What a fun thing for kids. Marlo refused an apron.

More beer!

We got most of our favorites but missed others. It became more and more clear that it would be an abbreviated trip so we hit the highlights. Marlo fell asleep as we were getting the last snack - Sweet Martha's cookies.

Kasper killing time until we left.

She slept awhile as we sat and ate cookies and drank milk. She woke up as I took her out of her stroller to get back on the bus but fell asleep on my chest for most of the 45 min drive back to our car. It was lovely.

When she woke up I offered her a cookie she missed. What a mistake! The way she got chocolate all over defied the laws of physics.
We got home right about nap time so we had the kids rest for a bit. Kasper didn't sleep but Marlo did. After Kasper had rested a bit he asked to set up the pool in the front yard. As soon as he was about to hop in the neighbor pulled up in his vintage Corvette (that made his day right there) and asked if Kasper wanted to go swimming in his pool! Kasper and Rob headed over there and had a great time.

I could hear Kasper asking a million questions all the way over at our house.
Marlo and I played in the pool. And ate the leftover zeppoles from the fair. And smiled. Smiling's our favorite.

See the molars back there?? And the other front tooth?

Saturday was another hot one. Before lunch we went on a walk/bike ride then the kids and Rob played at the splash pad and playground while I walked around the lake more.

Then back into the pool after naps. I don't think we've played in this pool in years past a fraction of the times we have this summer. It's a huge hit and passes the hot afternoon when we want to be outside and not having to share and play nice inside.

This was NOT a swim diaper. It was a pull-up. Giving her major back.

Fun is over!

Yesterday we ran errands in the morning then hosted a birthday party for my sister. Who, by the way, took 2 loads of towels and sheets home to wash and dry for us. #thankful It was oppressive outside but we still managed to play some yard games and have a couple cocktails. Always a fun group!
This morning the weather was amazing as soon as we got up. We decided to pile right into the car, get a pastry at Kowalski's and walk on the trail in Excelsior. It was a good call. We brought the double stroller so Rob and I could sip coffee and walk and we stowed Kasper's scooter underneath in case a scooting opportunity came up. He did ride the scooter for a bit before riding more. Even Papa got a turn!

I took about a million more pictures this afternoon but I'm too tired to go through them! I'll include them next week. Hope everyone had a great Labor Day!
