Happy Easter!

We started the week with pj Monday at daycare. I thought Kasper was just about the cutest with his little pjs and shoes. He is so little. These pictures are so "him." Always on the move and always clowning around.

This picture is blurry but it's his "gearing up to run" move.

We still very much enjoy the deck since it's been so pleasant. I gave Kasper a carrot (which he can't eat because he doesn't have any teeth (Editor's Note: He has two)) and he would mill around stopping occasionally with his arms limp at his sides and the carrot sticking out of his mouth. He is a funny kid.

Kasper has added a couple new words to his list this week: hot, apple, owl, Sissy. He knows where the vaca (cow) is if you ask. Most of the time he babbles.

Still big into cars and watching for them out the window. I got these earlier in the week.

I'm including them because it struck me that we have such different hair colors! I always assumed my kids would have dark hair like everyone in my family. And he had that dark hair when he was born! Now he's a strawberry blonde.

Daycare was closed Friday so Steph watched the boy while we still had to go to work. They had a fun day together! I loved getting these photo updates throughout the day.

More watching for cars this weekend. I think he's even saying "come back car!".

We hosted Easter at our house this year and had 13 people over for brunch! My Mom was super helpful, as usual and I couldn't do it without her help.

The "kids" had an egg hunt. Here we are opening or eggs. It's awesome hunting eggs as an adult - there's some paper in there! I even won $15 from my scratch-off lottery ticket.

Kasper was up at 6:30 so I figured I would try to coax him into an early nap so he'd stay awake for brunch and the egg hunt. Well,  he went down with no problem at 10 and I had to wake him up at noon!! He hasn't taken a morning nap at home for a long time. After that nap, an afternoon one just never came up. I tried at one point but he just wasn't tired. Well, he was a rockstar and was in a good mood the whole day! Even after everyone left around 6 he was in a great mood and enjoyed just playing by himself and being silly with us. It was so wonderful and fun! I was sort of worried  he wouldn't go to sleep but he settled right down. A perfect baby.

What a fun day! Hope everyone had a great Easter!

Kasper and Lois: 15 months and 7 years

Kasper -

You are 15 months old today - and Lois is 7 years old! You two are best friends so you had fun celebrating together.

DSC_0737.jpg

You are a fun little boy. You continue to be curious and constantly on the move. Lately, you are big in to looking for cars. You like to say "car", watch them drive by or find a toy car and repeat the word a million times. You are also big into saying "ball". Observe:

What else are you saying? You say up, mama, car, ball, banana.

You know what a dog says and what a monkey says.

You know the signs for milk, eat, all done, more. You communicate most effectively with signs. It's so fun.

You can point to your head, eyes, nose, ears and belly button.

You seem to understand more Spanish words still but the English words are catching up. In the mornings you have a couple puffs before we leave for school. Since I want you to sit and eat them but don't want to put you in your high chair, I say "sit on your bottom" and you sit right down to get your snack. It's what we say in the tub so you hear it a lot. You also understand brushing your teeth. After breakfast I ask if you want to brush your teeth so you make a beeline for the bathroom where you have your own little toothbrush you suck on for a couple minutes. You still have only TWO teeth.

Since it's been so nice here this Spring, we spend a lot of time outside and you LOVE it. You love going to the park, going for nightly wagon rides, taking the dog out after work, playing on the deck:
3.12 K soccer
It doesn't matter as long as you're outside. Your most heinous tantrums happen when it's time to come inside.

You are obsessed with any long-handled tool. Brooms, shovels, etc.

You eat basically what we eat and at this exact moment you're a pretty good eater! You try real hard to use a fork and spoon but you're not quite there yet. I got this video of you practicing last week.

You like tuna sandwiches, pizza, yogurt and bananas best.

You are no longer nursing. You nursed for the last time on my birthday - March 4. I'm sorry to tell you it was all my choice but you handled it well. A couple weeks after you weaned we used up the last of my frozen milk so you are a full time whole milk drinker! You drink about 16-18 ozs of milk a day. You still drink from a bottle before bed but it's on my list to get you off that.

You take 2 naps at daycare but only 1 at home. Your daycare naps are about 1 hour and 1.5 hours. At home the nap is usually over 2 hours. I think you get 2 naps unti you go to the toddler room this summer.

You put yourself to sleep and sleep all night and have for awhile. It's so nice. Of course it's 9 pm on a Sunday and Papa is in your room trying to get you to sleep. I don't know what is going on tonight.

You wear 12-18 month or 12 month clothes. You go to the Dr in a couple weeks and I'm anxious to see how much you've grown.

We went on a spontaneous bike ride today with Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Steph. Of course you loved it and it was your first time in Bowlus! Where? Exactly.

We went back to Grandma and Grandpa's for lunch and you helped walk the dog. You figured she would enjoy that for her birthday.

I wanted to get a cute photo of the birthday kids. You got a kangaroo kick to the chest.

I love you both,

It keeps getting better.

We continue to love life over here at Chez Williams! Things are so good. Kasper has been in a wonderful mood for weeks, the weather is beautiful and we are getting outside so often. Last year at this time we were gearing up to get our house on the market. We were having floor drains replaced, packing all of our stuff to move to storage, etc. I'm glad that's all over and we can enjoy. Actually, it was maybe a good year to be busy because Kasper is so fun and interactive this year I'd be sad to not take it all in.

ANYWAY...

Nothing interesting to report this week. Kasper added a couple new words to his vocab: car, ball. He hears "Sit on your bottom" every night in the bath but now you can say it anywhere and he'll sit down to wait for his snack. Finally he understands a useful request! He also learned the the fist pump.

We have been taking wagon rides every night after dinner. It's been so nice and Kasper really loves the ride. It's also been fun for Rob and I to walk around the neighborhood and look at all the houses. As we were getting ready for our walk Friday night, Kasper tripped on a rug and landed on the only toy in the area. Right on his eye. His first shiner!

This was about 30 minutes after the fall. Luckily this is the worst it looked.

I worked on capturing sun flares this weekend. Getting there but I think they can be much better.

Yesterday morning Rob went for a long bike ride and Kasper and I had a playdate with my friend Erin and her kiddos. Kasper becomes such a shy guy around new kids which cracked me up because he goes to daycare everyday! He was just quiet and calm and played with all the new toys by himself. Very unlike his normal self. Erin's kids were so cute, they actually enjoy being read to and crawling up on my lap. Nothing my own child would ever dream of.

We had a bunch of errands to run yesterday afternoon so rewarded ourselves with grilled brats and eating on the deck for the first time this year. Kasper is still pretty much in love with the deck. There is nothing to play with but he will spend hours walking back and forth. We had to sweep the deck before dinner.

Tied with his love of the deck is his love of brooms and sweeping. SERIOUSLY loves it. We looked at Target and apparently it's not a common interest of kids these days because they don't sell a play broom.

Sunflares!

This morning we got up and met some friends for breakfast at Tilia. Love that place. After a drive around some cute neighborhoods in Minnetonka to kill some time while K napped we stopped at Target then headed home. Kasper got in some broom time.

After his nap this afternoon we took the Burley we bought last year on it's real maiden journey. This trip doesn't count. This year his helmet fit! The hat is only for warmth. It was a little chilly tonight.

We went for about 10 miles and it went ok. Kasper couldn't see anything because the helmet just gets pushed over his face by the seat back. Then at the turnaround point, Kasper had a little snack so I took his helmet off. When I put it back on I apparently got a large amount of neck stuck in the clasp. Ugh. I feel so bad. On the way back, we ended up taking his helmet off so he could look around and he had a great time!

We get to send him to daycare tomorrow with a black eye and blood blister on his neck. Parents of the Year.

I really hope everyone in MN is enjoying this awesome early summer we've had. It's a real treat and I hope we take advantage of it as much as we can.
