Heat wave
Marlo started the week with her 2.5 yr well child visit! No news is good news. The Dr. doesn't think she'll potty train anytime soon. Neither do I and I think she's in for a rude awakening when she moves to the pre-school room next month. Eek.

Her stats:
Height - 37.5" - 89%
Weight - 26 lbs 8 oz - 26%
Head - 18.5" - 20%
Long, lean, head on the small side. Been there, done that. Same has her brother.
Crazy hair day!

It took me 10 minutes of serious combing to get through all that hairspray.
We find her here ALL THE TIME. "Washing her feet." Or whatever. She goes through bottles of soap and makes an enormous mess. She's real quiet about it so we don't know it's happening until it's too late.

As most of us in MN know, it was crazy hot this week. Our AC had trouble keeping up so we had to beat the heat however we could.

Bossing me.

I don't know if I mentioned it but Lois went to the vet recently and we found out she's gained about 15 lbs this last year! We started giving her trazodone a year ago and that has made her slow down a bit and apparently pack on the pounds.

These guys love their dog.
The city is seal coating the roads and we were lucky enough to be home when they did ours. Kasper was in HEAVEN.

Marlo chose to sit inside with Lois.

She eventually went out to watch.

It was pretty cool but I felt sorry for those poor kids working with hot tar when it was about 100 degrees.
Clean baby.

Rob left Friday afternoon for a weekend in Duluth. The kids and I just tried to stay alive.

DOES SHE NOT FEEL THAT??

Yeah, just set your smoothie bar directly on the table on a 90 degree day. #nailedit

Combing hair. Marlo calls in "pretty" as it "I want pretty." Pretty is just down. Her hair looked especially glam.

I found her reading to a train full of listeners she assembled.

It was cloudy all morning yesterday and I knew it was supposed to rain in the afternoon so we went to run our errands. Little did I know a wicked thunderstorm would roll in as we were checking out at Target and both kids lost their minds. I had to drag Kasper out to the car. It was a scene. I felt bad for the kid but I didn't have much patience at the time. When we got home we talked about thunder and how it's pretty harmless in the scheme of things. I tried not to transfer his fear to lightning and wind and I think it worked a little.
It rained all afternoon so when Kasper woke up we did some science projects and when Marlo woke up we baked cookies. We were desperate to find things to do.

My Dad is cringing right now.

Just before dinner the sun came out so we ran outside and played until it was time to eat.

An post-rain dusk is so awesome.

Today was beautiful! We had pancakes for breakfast then Kasper was asking if we could play Pokemon Go. Twist my arm. I said I had heard of a place that had lots of animals and we headed there. It was CRAZY. So many adults standing in some random park looking at their phones and talking about Poliwags and Magikarps.

We lost interest pretty fast and explored the dock before heading out.

The kids were excited to go to the beach but once we were there they played half heartedly on the playground a bit then were hungry and tired.

At least we were outside enjoying the weather all morning!
Does this look like the face of a 2.5 year old who took a red crayon and ran it around the house Family Circus style while I packed up beach stuff?

We were eating and the window in the sunroom caught my eye. Full of crayon scribbles. Tables, toys, books, walls, the chair, the outlet covers, etc, etc. Red scribbles.

Kasper NEVER did stuff like that. That little one keeps us on our toes.
Found them like this when I walked dinner out to the grill.

That is the worst thing about solo parenting, I can't do anything without finding one about to seriously damage themselves. You must develop a special set of skills when you're home all day with kids. It's a set I do NOT have. Obviously.
Last but not least, I wanted to get Kasper on video talking about his dragon brothers. He talks about them every once in awhile but it's definitely a set story he has in his mind with the dragons and the names and the fact they don't have a phone. This is a long video but he's pretty cute. He makes those holes with his fingers with EVERYTHING. His favorite is Big White Blanket but he makes them in everything.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
