Biking

The week flew by! It snowed a couple inches Monday and Tuesday but it melted quickly and wasn't as depressing as it could have been!

We had a weekend with no plans and filled it biking! I took the kids yesterday for a shorter bike ride along the trail by our house. It was a gorgeous day!

We went back out today to ride along Lake Minnetonka! The kids rode about 4 miles while Rob ran alongside! It was pretty windy and not quite as beautiful but it is just so nice to be outside.

Spring!

Skiing last weekend, outside without coats this weekend! Spring in MN is the BEST.

The kids had their well child visits this week. We are so thankful for healthy kids. As usual, the conversation was mostly about their weights. Kasper finally hit 60 lbs! And Marlo is hot on his heels at 48. Kasper remains at 1% for his BMI while Marlo has fallen from 20% to 13%. They eat enough to survive which differs quite a bit from their parents that love all food because it's delicious.

Kids always have so many bruises on their legs.

We got a new brush recently and it makes Marlo's hair so smooth with almost no yelps. I comb her hair all day long. It's so satisfying.

Picked out her own outfit.

Yesterday we had the kids too long in the car so we stopped for ice creams! It was a little cold to be eating ice cream outside but NOT BY MUCH. It has been really nice here lately. With daylight savings time starting yesterday it's really going to start feeling like Spring!

Last year we were on our second day of our pandemic journey. I don't think I'd have believed you if you said we'd still be in it a year later. There is some light at the end of the tunnel, though. I'm thankful for that.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Ski bums

Apparently this is a skiing blog now.

Our week was great though we didn't get any photos! I had a birthday on Thursday and was celebrated with all my favorite things including breakfast sandwiches and sushi. The kids had conferences Friday and are hanging in there! It's been tough on kids with all the uncertainty and upheaval and I can only hope that they are feeling settled back at school.

On Friday we headed up to St. Cloud to celebrate birthdays with Grandma and Grandpa! Since it's late winter 2021, obviously we went skiing. We hit Powder Ridge up near St. Cloud which is where Rob skied when he was a kid. The kids and I took a lesson together and by the end of the hour were skiing the blue hill (this is central MN but still). Marlo could barely stand on skis a few weeks ago! (The video has some noisy wind, it's fine to watch with the sound off!)

IMG_2777 IMG_4355 IMG_4356 IMG_4362 IMG_2778 All of the Grandparents are fully vaccinated and it was a beautiful day so we all met at the ski hill and ate, drank hot chocolate and watched the kids ski. It felt normal.

And now we're ready to face another week! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

100

Another quiet week! The kids celebrated 100 days of school. Marlo's class had to dress up like 100-year-olds.

Then Rob used an app to age the kids and the results were pretty funny.

IMG_2720 IMG_2581 I won't show ours. Hits too close to home.

Today we went skiing again!

Kasper worked on doing 180's and you can see him at the beginning of the video on the far hill turning around and going down backwards (he's in the navy coat and yellow pants -- hence we call him "Goldenlegs"). The run before this was his best job turning backward and he was pretty proud of himself. Marlo is rocking the bunny hill and can do it all herself from getting over to the magic carpet, off the magic carpet and down the hill. She's doing awesome! And she doesn't even pretend to almost run into me like one of her other <ahem> relatives does.

We ended up with a crew including two of Kasper's buddies and their Dads and brother.

They skied hard for hours and were tired. Marlo even laid down to rest on some old skis at the end.

Skiing!

It was a typical week which is always a good thing these days! It was very cold most of the week but things are looking up and with 40's in the forecast, it's basically Spring.

Marlo got a start on her Christmas list.

She's going to be disappointed.

Kasper took a month off of tae kwon do as a reward for getting his black belt. He needed a break from it especially after working so hard for the test. He now does classes with a sword which makes me nervous.

Rob took the kids out skiing today! They brought Kasper's friend Charlie so the boys could ski together while Rob focused on carrying Marlo up and down the bunny hill.

According to Rob she actually started to get it by the end!

The boys are bombing down the hills somewhere in the background, going off jumps and having a great day. Kasper is really a good skier. Marlo will be hot on his heels!

And with that we start another week! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Colder snap

It was a COLD week here. If it got above 0, it's not coming to mind. Tonight the low is forecast to be -22. Yuck.

Our week was school, work and staying inside. The kids had their school Valentine's Day parties on Friday and they were so excited about them. Kasper wasn't allowed to bring food of any kind. Marlo was. I learned this after I bought about 4 lbs of heart shaped suckers. The Valentine's took me less time than store bought because there was no writing and I think they turned out super cute.

Rob took himself and Kasper for haircuts yesterday then picked up the kids' skis! We decided to encourage ourselves to get them out on the slopes by getting them their own skis. Kasper particularly LOVES skiing.

Thanks to the awful weather, we treated ourselves to the new Mario video game which can be played with 4 players. We put some miles on that baby yesterday and today as we sat by the fire and played. I even made popcorn from kernels which was a great excitement.

Oh. Here's one from today. Fire, pjs all day, breakfast at 10 am then leftover pancakes the rest of the day. Check. Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Cold snap

We got through January without a real cold snap but for the next week here it's going to be downright frigid.

This week we went to school and work all week. We are thankful every day the kids get to go to school. They really thrive being there. Now that all the grades are back at the elementary school, the morning drop off line was unreasonable so the kids went back on the bus starting Wednesday! It's been fun seeing all of our bus stop friends after almost a year! The gang is all there and grew by 2 more kids - one of which is in Kasper's class!

Marlo got into Minecraft this week. While I don't know the true goal of the game, I'm pretty sure it's not to find and capture all the animals you can, fall in love with them, give them names, and cram them into your house as pets until eventually they run off and get lost in caves or fall off cliffs and die and you cry real tears and feel very sad.

IMG_4074

Then she lost her second tooth! She's at 100% for losing her teeth at home! Rob pulled this one out too. (Kasper is at 16%. We did the math.)

IMG_2136

This weekend it has been super cold (-18 this morning) so we just stayed home and watched screens, played games, sat in front of fires and ate food. I decided to try to make the kid's valentines this year and I think they turned out so cute! I have a little more tweaking so their faces aren't covered.

IMG_2228 IMG_4105

A little Marlo-heavy this week! We'll have to get Kasper in front of the camera instead of the TV a bit more this week.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
