Bye 2021

We did it! We made it to the end of 2021! Limped to the finish line, quite honestly, but here we are. Before I took a break from posting over the holidays we left off at Marlo's birthday.

Here's what the house looked like back then.

We were waiting for the top floor to go on.

The birthday girl going with her Dad to get McDonalds for dinner.

Before we went up for Christmas, they were starting on the upper level! Basement plumbing was laid. Also, Xcel started the process of running power to the house but the main step of hooking up the wires in the house and the wire along the street hasn't happened yet.

Maybe it's not actually all that interesting, but I find it fascinating to see all these steps and how they come together!

We headed up to St. Cloud for Christmas! It was a couple days of food and family and it's always the best.

We were home most of last week but headed back to St. Cloud for New Year's to spend time and Kappy's birthday with Grandma Sandra!

We got back today and swung by the house. The whole upper level looks framed! There are no stairs so we assume they get up there with a ladder and as far as we can tell all the rooms are done. The roof trusses are on site and they'll likely go up this week! The house is very, very, very tall but it looks SO GOOD driving up to it around the wetland. We're excited about how it's all coming together.

There are more windows that aren't uncovered yet and some other design elements. Don't fret. We're doing our best with what we have to work with.

Hope everyone had a very Happy Holiday, and here's to an exciting, eventful, and awesome 2022!

8th-Birthday Eve!

Rob's firm does something for the kids for almost every holiday. It's so sweet. For Christmas, they sent aprons and a cookie decorating kit. They were really good cookies, too.

The main floor of the house was framed this week! It's so exciting to watch it take shape! It looked so small without the rooms framed but now it looks less like a dollhouse and more like a family could live in it.

It was looking like Xcel wasn't going to be able to give us power until sometime in January which would've been less than ideal, but our site manager made it happen. Xcel came and put ground warmers so they can do the work next week!

We went over today and had lunch in the warm basement! There's another gas heater in the basement to keep the floor thawed so they can dig to install the plumbing which made it nice and toasty in there.

That grey barrel to the right of Kasper is our sewage ejector so that's cool.

I made a video of the main floor - it's long but if you want to see where we are so far! IMG_6423

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We have a big day here tomorrow. SOMEONE turns 8!
