2 week photos

When Kasper was 2 weeks old, my good friend Jess came over for a photo shoot. Needless to say, I am obsessed with them. They are so beautiful and really show off the baby boy. If anyone in the St. Cloud/Twin Cities area is looking for a newborn photographer (and she does more than just newborns!), I can pass along her info.

Are you ready for another photo dump? I have trouble deciding on which pictures to choose, so I often end up putting up too many. You don't mind, do you?

I remember being very impressed with his alertness during the shoot for only being 2 weeks old. Alert and not fussy although he is clearly hungry if you notice what he is doing with his mouth.

There! Enjoy! My now 5.5 week old is awake and farting next to me. Time for a change. Which reminds me to post about our cloth diapers! Maybe next week.

5 weeks

Kasper turned 5 weeks old this weekend! We celebrated by spending some time in St. Cloud! But I'll get to that later...

What's new with Mr. Williams this week?

We are still trying to manage his reflux. It makes feedings difficult at times when he ends up writhing around instead of eating. He takes Zantac twice a day. We're supposed to give it some time to work. It's been over a week - it can start working any day now.

We started a Mommy and Me class at the local maternity place where we took our baby classes. There are 9 women in the class - with 7 boys and 2 girls! I think there is a baby boy boom going on right now. In the first class, we mostly introduced ourselves and told our birth stories. I had the fastest labor by far. I think 1.5 hours is tough to beat. The women are all great and it's so nice to know that I'll be able to get out of the house every Wednesday morning and chat with other new mothers. I also love the group leader. I think it will be a very positive experience for me, especially given my severely introverted tendencies.

At the end of class, I weighed Kasper on the baby scale - 10 lbs, 4 ozs!!

On Wednesday night, we headed up to St. Cloud for a few days. Rob had some work to do up Northish, so we all decided to go! We love spending time in St. Cloud. It's always so relaxing and this trip was no different.

The smiles I saw happening early in the week that Ryan thought might because we make him farty are indeed REAL SMILES! He really unloaded once we were up at my parents house. It started when I was changing his diaper on the dresser and he spotted the other baby in the mirror.

We then moved to the floor for some activity time. More smiles ensued.

On Friday afternoon, my Mom and I met Sandra at SCSU to show Kasper off to many of her co-workers. It was fun and Kasper was such a good baby!

On Friday evening, I brought Kasper to dinner with my 3 girlfriends and our Mothers. Again he was a fabulous baby! I'm going to need to get photos from Emily of our evening, I didn't take pictures!

Kasper certainly had a big weekend, but he made it through like a champ. Do you want to know the secret? My Mom is the freaking baby whisperer. Seriously, the kid melts as soon as he gets in to her arms.

Mom even "babysat" Kasper upstairs Friday night so Rob and I could get a full nights sleep! He didn't cry for her and drank a bottle in a few gulps. Baby whisperer.

Wow! Big post! Too many photos!

5 weeks - we can SMILE, we still have reflux, we are making new friends, hire my Mom as a babysitter.

Also, for my own future reference, I want to mention that I am wearing out the new Robyn album while I do work on the computer. So good.

One Month!

I know he was 4 weeks on Saturday and now I'm writing that he's 1 month and doesn't 4 weeks = 1 month? No. It doesn't, apparently. At least he was born on the first, so that makes it easy!

Kasper at 1 month.

At 0 months and 1 month. That month really did something for his skin, huh?

1 Mo

The little dude is pushing 10 bills and according to our tape measure hasn't grown an inch. That can't be right seeing as how he can't straighten his legs in newborn sleepers anymore. We'll have to get a more accurate measurement next month at the Dr. The larger crotch area demonstrates our cloth diapering practices. We started this past weekend and so far so good. They are a little large for him, but he'll grow into them soon enough.

Kasper has been sleeping 5-6 hours for the first part of the night for about a week now. I think it has to do with his sleeper.

Here is Kasper in his sleeper. He's not sleeping. This is just to show what he looks like in bed.

DSC_0332

Rob feeds him a big bottle before bed which I think fills him up so he can sleep a little longer. I nurse him when we wakes up at night then he usually gets 2-3 more hours before being mostly up for the day. Some mornings I can squeeze another hour out of him.

We still don't have a sleeping or activity schedule. I'm not going to get worked up about that yet. I'll give him another couple weeks before I try to figure out how we'll structure the day. According to one book, activities for babies under 2 months include diaper changes, eating, looking at faces, etc. Check. We do all those numerous times a day, so I guess he's getting enough activity.

In other news, I am 99.9% sure Kasper started to SMILE yesterday. I know any baby under 6 weeks who smiles is farting, but I am SURE that he smiles in response to us. We were reading a book yesterday and he started to smile at my voices so I put the book down and tickled him. Sure enough, more smiles every time I tickled. He even smiled when Rob got home to tickle him. I'm marking it anyway. Maybe he's an advanced smiler. I'll try to catch one on camera one of these days.

I took about 100 pictures to get a decent one today. And it's not even as good as when he was freshly born! I thought some of the "outtakes" were funny.
