Wow this week went fast! It's hard to believe next week is CHRISTMAS! I remember when Kasper turned one. Now he's only a couple short weeks from turning 2.
Anyway. As I said before, this week flew by. I barely even picked up the camera!
(I hope he forever has that dimple. Love it.)
After getting basically a foot of snow last weekend, we can see grass in some places after a warm, rainy week of disappointment! I was worried we might have a brown Christmas after all but I think the snow will hold on.
We maybe had dinner all together once this week. Rob was working hard/late most days while I had a work holiday party one evening. It was just one of those weeks. Luckily we had little on the schedule for this weekend so we could spend it together.
We ran to Ikea yesterday morning along with everyone else in the tri-state area. Highly recommend going for breakfast before the store opens! The rest of the day we laid low and watched the rain, hoping it wouldn't melt all the snow. Kasper was being especially silly at dinnertime.
Here is his "smile" when I tell him to say cheese.
Napkins make great toys!
This morning we decided to toss some boots on and go for a walk. We told Kasper we were going on a abenture. He had an amazing time. This little trail is seriously across the street. So lucky to have this kind of space so close.
Here is Kasper saying "Mas abenture!!" since we had stopped walking a second.
He said he wanted to get down and play. Guess he didn't mean it.
We warmed ourselves after the walk with a trip to Caribou. Kasper HOUSED this hot chocolate and barely spilled any. Absolutely chugged it. That's my boy.
A whirlwind week and a weekend that went too fast. It's that just always the way? Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Well, I'll admit that until today I was worried we wouldn't be having a white Christmas here in MN. I don't think I have to worry anymore!
We got our Christmas tree last Sunday but we couldn't decorate it until Monday so it had time to "fall". Here we are getting into the Christmas spirit. It was so sweet.
You'll have to indulge me here. I love all of these.
He would put the lights in his mouth and declare them "Yummy!"
Rob and I decorated the top half of the tree and let Kasper take care of the bottom. He really got the hang of putting the ornaments on!
He put all of his ornaments on one branch at one point! He actually mostly enjoys taking the ornaments off and leaving them all over the living room.
Here she is!
I sort of love this picture as a glimpse of life at our house. Some of the window treatments are tied up so a little boy doesn't destroy them. Said little boy has various things strewn about the room. Sigh.
Oh! Here's that little boy not standing still long enough to get him clearly in the photo.
We were pretty excited to see some snow yesterday morning! Rob and Kasper did some sledding while I made some delicious muffins for breakfast!
I had stopped by Caribou when I ran out to the store quick and picked Kasper up his first hot chocolate since I knew he'd probably be chilly playing outside. So cute.
We came inside to finish the hot chocolate because it was too messy. Check out that hair! Haha!
(See the rivers of hot chocolate running down his bib?)
We ran to Target before naptime then hung close to home for the rest of the day.
(See why I have to wrap the drapes up?)
This morning we were even more excited to see even more snow outside!
Rob had plans to go to the Vikings game while Kasper and I were going to go to Ikea with Steph. Rob blew out the driveway before leaving since we had a couple inches of snow already. It was still snowing and looked slippery so we decided to stay home. Boy and I glad we did! It snowed ALL.DAY!
Here are a couple pictures of the deck railing taken a few hours apart.
We did get all bundled up at one point but the snow was too deep to have any fun in! Kasper kept getting stuck and falling down and he didn't like the snow to be on his cheeks. Oh well! At least we tried! I loved it!
It was a stay in your pajamas all day kind of day so we obliged. This is Kasper's new silly face. It's funny.
When Rob got home, he had to slow blow AGAIN and this time took a measurement. Almost 9" had fallen in the 8 hours since he had last blown!
And it's STILL snowing...
I want to add a couple new notable things Kasper started saying this week. He says "Nope" now which is so cute. He also tells us "Don't move!" with his hand out when we are supposed to stay where we are. His manners are getting better and better and he did a great job of remembering to say "por favor" and "excuse me." Oh! And yesterday morning when I went to get him out of his crib, he held out his hand and said "Yucky, I need a Kleenex." I need a Kleenex! Where does he come up with this stuff?
You are 23 months old. I only have one more of these updates to write after this one!
Where do I start. You are even more a little boy than you were last month. You RUN everywhere. You talk up a storm. You have a funny sense of humor. You are an amazing kid.
I won't bother listing the words you know. You talk in almost complete sentences now. Some of the things you say all the time:
- Don do dat. (Usually followed by "Okaaaaaaaay sissy?")
- I help you, Mama (when you are the one wanting the help.)
- Coffee's done! (After every chime you hear)
We have been working on manners and I am very proud of you for remembering to say please and thank you where appropriate. You say "Bless you" when someone sneezes and "Excuse you" when you burp.
Papa is having fun teaching you some new sounds lately.
According to your teachers, you love to paint and draw. You don't have a huge interest in it at home but you do ask to draw with your chalk on occasion. One day this week, you asked for yellow chalk. I gave it to you and you went to work. When you were done, you said "Mama, it's a bumbum bee." YOU DREW A BUMBLE BEE. I can totally see it, buddy. It would be fun if you were creative and artistic.
You love to dance and sing and actually sing along to songs on the radio. Your dance moves are pretty raw still but I love to see you move to the music.
You are still a skinny kid. When I brought you in to the Dr. about a month ago you weighed 24 lbs. You don't get another "official" weight until your 2 year appt next month. You are consistently in 12-18 month clothes. You're starting to move into 18-24 month clothes, which is fun. Your appetite is hit or miss. It's been hit lately and you've been willing to try a lot of new foods. There is nothing that you will ALWAYS eat. Besides maybe candy. You have a sweet tooth like your Mom.
You still take one nap during the day for 2-3 hours. You go to bed between 7:30 and 8 and sleep until 7. (Some day you'll learn sleeping in on the weekends is fun!) Papa gives you a bath and gets your in your jammies. He hands you off to me and we read 4-5 books. You hold one book and I read the others in the order you've decided on. When all that's left is the book you're holding, you'll page through it and I'll read along. When the books are read, you snuggle into me and we sing rockabye baby about 10 times. I'll sing it, ask what you want to sing next and you'll always request rockabye baby. We sing and giggle and hug and kiss. I love it so much. When I've sung it enough, we stand up and you'll request Night Night Kasper which is the song your Papa made up for you when you were a tiny baby. I'll sing though it once or twice and by now your eye lids are pretty heavy! It's so fun and I hope you enjoy our little nighttime routine for awhile longer.
We went out for a breakfast date this weekend while Papa was busy doing a bike race. We had a lot of fun. You lugged that milk around all morning.
Your best friend is without a doubt Lois. You love to boss her around and roughhouse with her. She's amazing and patient with you. I think she loves you just as much but would never admit it.
You are a silly, funny boy. We love seeing what you'll come up with next. It's amazing how observant you are!
We went to pick out our Christmas tree today. It was a weird foggy day - we still don't have snow! Hopefully you'll get to see a white Christmas someday!
The farm had a reindeer, which you were interested in...
And a Santa which you were NOT interested in.
You wouldn't get near him. You even lost a shoe in the struggle. Maybe next year...
One more month until you are 2 years old. No longer my baby. This is going to be a fun month, buddy. I hope you enjoy it.
