Marching 4th toward spring

Hi everyone! Hope everyone had a great week. We had a lot of fun this week.

As I mentioned before, Monday was my birthday. I got a couple pics of me and my boy. (Don't know what's going on with my bangs in this first picture.)

A co-worker of mine made birthday cake that we were able to enjoy at work and I was able to bring a bunch home. Kasper had fun eating the frosting off the top!

What a mess.

Sometimes I have to wake Kasper up in the morning. I feel so bad doing it!

Here's another morning when we had to wake him up. This time Rob picked him up while he was sleeping. This picture makes me remember how little he once was. He didn't always spill out of Rob's arms like that.

Rob was able to get Kasper singing one of his favorite songs. I think he has a very strong interest in music. He remembers lyrics from many songs and can sing along! Maybe all kids do.

Kasper's daycare was closed at noon Friday so he got to take his nap at home. It was an epic nap and he woke up with awesome bed head and face.

Our weekend was pretty low key. We weren't sure what the weather was going to do so we didn't make any plans. We did lots of playing around the house.

(Yes our house always looks like this. I think a straightened play area encourages more of a mess than just leaving it.) (Editor's note: Rationalize much?)

Kasper loves touching bellies with me. It's pretty silly but pretty adorable.

Kasper started using pronouns this weekend. And using them correctly. It's so fun to watch him "get" things. Also clicking - potty training! A couple times this weekend Kasper said he had to go potty and went! I won't get my hopes up that he'll potty train himself but it's a start!

Today was more of the same. Playing around the house. Watching Papa build a snowman on the deck while roof raking. Groceries. A nice nap that was seriously shortened by the dog barking, then two torn pages and one ripped spine in three favorite books. Guess that's over-tired exuberance for you.

A birthday tradition

I turned 33 (gasp!) on Monday and to celebrate we got outside for our annual "sledding on Mama's birthday" event. We actually did it on Sunday but I'm still counting it. I looked back at last year's post and laughed. I remember that day! I didn't remember it was my birthday.

Kasper was a little tyke last year

In the last couple years it seems like there is almost always snow on the ground in early March.

He eventually asked to go in the little sled. He barely fits in there anymore!

It was fun and I hope it's something we can do every year!

K-Pop Weekend!

Well we are just rolling through 2013, aren't we? March already?? Crazy.

We had a fun week. Kasper seemed to be older this week. He is talking in more full sentences, uses the potty often and just LOOKS older. He's had an appetite this week which is always good. We try to get him to eat a variety of foods and in general he does. Sometimes he gets his food on the run but at this point I'm going with it. I just want him to eat. If it's in between running around with no pants on, so be it.

Tuesday was crazy hair day at daycare. Kasper is in a bit of a Papa phase right now. It's pretty cute.

The hair was getting entirely too long so I ended up cutting it Friday night. He still HATES getting his hair cut.

I never thought I would cut anyone's hair! I'm totally getting better.

We put videos on the iPad when we cut his hair. It helps a little to take his mind off it.

He was doing a good job singing until the drums came in. Then he lost focus a bit to keep the rhythm.

Yesterday morning we went for a family run outside! We ran 8 miles - it was a beautiful day. Kasper ended up sleeping in his stroller which caused him to decline a nap later in the day. Oops.

Warming up after the run. We had a couple treats with our coffees/hot chocolates. At one point, Kasper dropped some scone. He looked at the dropped pastry and said, totally naturally, "Oh man. I dropped my treat." It was hilarious and we laughed. He's repeated it numerous times and it's still funny.

For some reason this weekend Kasper requested to hear the Korean pop song Gangnam Style totally out of the blue. Then he wanted to hear it over and over. Rob at least taught him the dance after our run.

When it was clear K wasn't going to nap Rob took him outside to play. K told me it was "crunchy snow".

Today Kasper never changed out of his pjs. It was one of those days and it was great!

I ran out to do a couple errands this morning and got to browse a bit with no toddler directing me. I came home with lots of spring blooms and I LOVE them! I'm thinking spring! (As the forecast for tomorrow is 6-10" of snow.)

Kasper was watching a little Gangnam Style before nap (this was probably the 5th or 6th time through).

Think he's sleepy?

We read a book and as soon as I said "the end" he snuggled into me, closed his eyes and feel right to sleep. He was so incredibly tired. I sat and rocked with him a long time. Sigh.
