Quarantine: Week 22

The kids went to another week of camp! It's only 2 hours a day but they really love it.

We started the week with the weirdest weather. Storms kept forming basically right over our house so we had a severe thunderstorm for about 7 hours along with hail and so much rain it overflowed the rain gauge.

Did anyone else love shucking corn as a kid? I remember doing it, and I think it was a chore I didn't mind. My favorite was when my Mom cut the kernels off and they would come off in big chunks. Yum.

I did a DIY paint kit from an artist I have loved for awhile. It turned out awesome!

We decided to go camping Saturday night! We planned it about a week ago and lucked out with the perfect weather, since on Friday evening there were tornadoes all over the area. We stopped on the way down for treats from county fair vendors in a Hy Vee parking lot!

We didn't zip a door closed and for some reason, Marlo was targeted by all the mosquitoes in the tent and possibly the world. They tormented her all night as Rob tried to keep them at bay. I only realized the door was open in the morning. Kasper, Rob and I had a couple hours of whittling and coffee time before Marlo finally woke up from her terrible night.

Could you feel any worse for her? Rob counted 70 bites on her face. There were like 8 on the tip of her nose alone. They even got her lips. It was a maiming!

We went on a little hike but their hearts weren't in it.

Rob killed a ton of fat mosquitos overnight and then found and took vengeance on at least 30 more when he was packing up and taking down the tent. They were all still digesting and full of Marlo blood.

We got home and set to work making Marlo more comfortable.  She's got a big week ahead of her, but she's an incredibly tough and positive kid. Wish her luck!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Quarantine: Week 21

The kids spent time with grandparents again this week! And they loved it! Marlo went first to Grandma Sandra's. She didn't get spoiled AT ALL poor thing.

While Marlo was gone, we got out for a couple tennis sessions. Kappy's really getting good! It was another beautiful week here in MN. One of the best so far. IMG_1446

Papa and Kappy dropped Rob's car off for service one morning and rode their bikes back home, encountering a car Rob wished was his.IMG_1454 IMG_1457

The kids spent a couple days at Grandma's together. IMG_8691 IMG_8693 IMG_8694 IMG_8695

The Minnesota State Bird had a field day with these delicious faces.  Grandma had her house repainted! IMG_8696

Bye Marlo!

And now we're all home and ready for another week of camp!

We found out our district will be mostly going back to school in the fall. Marlo will be back full time in our normal school. Kasper will be 4 days a week at the high school. We've decided to send them back to school so fingers crossed everyone stays healthy and they can continue to be with friends and teachers during the day.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Quarantine: Week 20

This week flew by! Wow! The kids went to a 2 hr outdoor day camp every morning and had a BLAST. They were there with Kasper's best friend and they all had a ton of fun together. It felt kind of normal with the exception of not forgetting face masks.

We thought we'd hear our district's plan for school next year but apparently we have to wait awhile longer. I don't envy the decision makers - a good plan for everyone just doesn't exist.

Marlo didn't get to have the normal kindergarten experience. I feel bad for her. I'm glad she at least got to go to a camp. Rob and I were discussing this the other day - is this one of the nicest summers (weather wise) MN has had in years? It has been a real treat to have this beautiful summer when we are all at home all the time. We took the kids disc golfing yesterday. IMG_8445 IMG_8451
Marlo plays about 1 hole then sets to her work. What is her work? Collecting every stick she sees and putting it in her bag. IMG_8456 IMG_8467
Those are all the pictures we took this week apparently! The kids are each spending a portion of this next week with Grandma Sandra with some visits with Grandpa Steve! It's been a long time since these kids got to have time with grandparents. We're thankful we are getting to have some.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
