Digging autumn

As people who have never built a house before, we're really marveling at how fast things are happening! It was only a week and a half ago that the first hole was dug. 

I hope the colors are this beautiful every year!

 

The kids' conferences were Friday so afterward, Rob and I treated ourselves to a day off enjoying the sun. Of course that meant he disc golfed and I walked then we went to the lot! 

 

It was a beautiful weekend! We tried to spend as much time as we could outside. We even had cinnamon rolls and chocolate cookies for lunch yesterday.

 

We took the kids to the lot and there was a guy measuring out walls! Then we took a walk on our new local trail. Marlo of course found a bunch of "super cute" sticks she couldn't part with.

 

We also did some relaxing at home. This is what the kids room looks like after a little relaxing. It makes my eyes twitch.

Big Dig

We start the week with swimming lessons! Marlo goes first then 40 minutes later Kasper goes. I pack them  sandwiches to eat in-between and the weather has been so nice lately we've been eating al fresco in the parking lot! 

The big news for us this week was that our house project finally started! They started Wednesday morning. 

That's the garage he's edging in. Thursday they brought in 18(?!) truckloads of dirt to raise the level of the driveway and the ground floor. 

By Friday they basically had the whole house dug out/raised. 

Rob's standing in the walkout basement and you can see the slope from left to right from main floor level to basement. Sliding doors will be out of the photo on the right.

So exciting! The kids went up to stay with their Grandma for the weekend. As usual they had a ton of fun.

 Another busy week! And weekend! 

Our week was fairly typical. The kids absolutely love swimming lessons and I'm so glad they're back in the water once a week! 

This weekend we were busy checking out fireplaces, enjoying the beautiful weather outside, and spending time with friends. Today Grandma Sandra came over to hang out with the kids while Rob and I celebrated our anniversary a day early. 

 

It was such a beautiful day today. Rob and I went for a long walk then hung out at our new lot and read for awhile. Our new house is going to have the most amazing evenings. 

 

Things are going to be happening this week!

Routine

It was our first full week of school and activities! We got the kids back into swimming lessons. They are so excited to be going again - both absolutely LOVE swimming lessons. 

 

We've been picking out some house finishes lately which means lots of time at showrooms. Sometimes we bring the kids and thankfully they usually have some places to hang out. We're making some progress on the design but it seems like there are miles to go. 

Rewarded them with Chik-Fil-A for dinner. 

Marlo's current favorite things include hide-and-seek and balloons.

It was a beautiful weekend here! Marlo made a treasure map for us to follow. 

 

Today it was 90 degrees and honestly we aren't used to it anymore. We tried to get outside but the kids melted.

Whew! That was a full week. Now we do it again. Hope everyone had a great weekend! 

Back to school!

Another summer gone! This summer lasted forever and also flew by. The kids were very excited to start school. 

We had a slight hiccup when the bus didn't show up on the first day of school and all the parents had to drive the kids over after school started but it's gone pretty smoothly since then. 

It'll take a couple weeks to get some solid routines down but it'll be good. To treat ourselves after a busy week we had a lazy weekend. We slept in, walked, watched a ton of Great British Baking Show. Rob took the kids to a soccer field across the street to play around for a bit today. 

Then we went over to the Apple House for some SweeTangos and apple mini doughnuts! 

Back to the grind this week for a full week! Yikes!
