Pulled

The only bit of excitement in our week was when Kasper went to the dentist to have 8 teeth pulled! 

The orthodontist wanted the teeth out because they were too attached to the bone to come out on their own and the adult teeth are just waiting. No one wants braces in college (*cough**Robert*) so we needed to urge things along. 8 teeth is a lot all at once but the dentist said he didn't need to be sedated because they were baby teeth. Turns out he was right! We were all nervous but sounds like it went about as well as couple be expected. 1 of 8 gave some trouble and had to be worked on but the rest popped out! Apparently the dentist was delighted with each tooth he pulled out because they had very, very long roots. One molar had 3 roots. But now it's done and we move to phase 2 - waiting for adult teeth to move in. 

 

Kappy was a real rockstar and I know he's happy to have that behind him.

   

Guess we didn't take an after yet but I'll wait until they're not bloody sockets. You're welcome.

I turned the big 44 today! Time flies. 

We've been just bebopping along, enjoying the random 60 degree days. 

 

And the windy days. 

And now here goes another week. A year older this time.

Curl

Man the weeks are FLYING by. SO much going on. Of course nothing that we take pictures of. 

So I'll leave these here. Marlo can curl her tongue.

Winter is boring

Apparently winter is boring around here. Especially with no snow. 

The kids have been chugging along at school. Rob and I have been chugging along at work. There's still no snow. It's been in the 50's. 

We had our favorite pastries this weekend. The cinnamon rolls are as big as Marlo's head. 

 

 We also went to the park to play this afternoon before the Super Bowl because it was sunny and seemed warm out! It wasn't actually all that warm but the park was PACKED. Tons of dog walkers, strollers, a drone, kids on bikes and scooters. It really wasn't all that warm but it feels like Spring here. This is not early February in Minnesota.

New Year

These first are weeks of the year are kind of a nice breath of fresh air for us. The holidays get nuts. 

This week was Marlo's first choir concert and she did great! 

We ran some errands yesterday. Marlo loves a mall.

Rob took the kids to Lion's Tap for lunch. Don't they look awfully big suddenly?

Busy

This week was busy, busy. 

On Monday Rob was the 4th and final family to get strep throat! We had Kasper tested yesterday, while the rest of us had been on antibiotics for 5 days, and he was still negative so we are maybe all done with this round. 

Kasper had his winter band concert Thursday night. They really improve from 6th grade to 7th! 

Rob had to leave the band concert early to pick Marlo up from her first ski club day! The 4th and 5th graders go to Hyland for 6 Thursdays and it's a ton of fun. It was 5 degrees or something but she said she was able to stay warm enough. She looks kinda cold to me. 

 

Kasper had his ski club day Friday up at Wild Mountain and was home by 11 pm. It was even colder for him! After a crazy busy week, this weekend was nice and chill. We needed it.

Strep

This week didn't go exactly like I anticipated! I came down with strep throat on Tuesday and was out for a couple days. 

Friday was Rob's birthday so we went out for dinner and played some Rock Band in the basement.

Yesterday we went skiing again! Since Marlo starts ski club Thursday we really wanted to make sure she could handle her gear, put it on, go on the chairlift and ski down by herself. We went with her bestie and her family and happy to report the girls did great and have lots of confidence for Thursday.

     

 Kasper tried Rob's old ski blades and had fun with those.

   

 At my appointment during the week, the provider said to bring both kids in because of the length of time between Kasper's strep and mine thinking there might be a carrier in the house. Neither kid is showing any symptoms at the moment but we took them in anyway. Sure enough, Marlo tested positive! Her throat isn't even red in the slightest and the lady said she wouldn't guess she had strep at all. So 2/4 of us are currently on antibiotics and I'm thankful we found Marlo's infection before it spread again. UGH. I hate strep. So that was our week!
