Spring Break 2024, Part 2

The kids spent the majority of their time in the hot tub. It was mostly off so it wasn't too hot and they could all touch so they just crammed in there for hours at a time.

I saw my first roadrunner! We've been going to the desert for years and I've never seen one. Not only did I see this guy but I think we had 3-4 roadrunner sightings and everyone got to see. He was a rascal. He had a lizard in his mouth and when I saw him later on my walk he was being dive bombed by 2 other birds. Must've stolen something.

Lots of games. Marlo liked to play card games when she was feeling better for a moment.

The backyard lit up at night.

Coming out of the worst of it. Poor girl.

Rob tried a new disc golf course that had just opened that day. It was on a ball golf course and you fit in with the golfers so it was a little slow but it was such a perfect day. He had to borrow a collared shirt because you still had to comply with golf course rules.

Then on hole 18 he threw into the water and fell all the way in retrieving his disc. He returned that shirt soaking wet.

Sat around the fire a few evenings.

 This pool was fun.

Kappy had a great week. He did such a great job of playing outside with his cousins and not being in front of a screen TOO much. I think he had the most fun he's ever had.

We did an escape room and not only did we escape we did it fast enough to make the leader board for the month! Just missed out on making it for the year.

We did try to take the kids on a hike but it was hot and they aren't super robust. But we got out there a bit.

We got them back to the pool.

Rob and I did one morning at our favorite trail and one day at the trail closer to our house. This trail was mostly flat but we did see 2 roadrunners and a jackarabbit! If you go farther, you go into the mountains so maybe next year we'll go for a longer hike.

Souviners.

We had about an hour to kill between having to be out of the house and getting to the airport so we went bowling! It was a blast and the perfect way to spend free time.

Palm Springs airport is outdoors. Love it.

Like I mentioned, we had an "easy" flight back and were home by 1 am. The best we could except. It was another fun Spring Break and we can't wait to go back next year!!

Spring Break 2024, Part 1

We're back from Spring Break in beautiful Palm Springs! It was kind of a mixed bag this year!

We picked up 2 excited kids from school at noon and headed to the airport. We didn't know it at the time but Kasper forgot his Nintendo Switch in the TSA line. We had smooth flights this year which is always nice.

Marlo woke up the first morning with a fever and chills and never really made a full recovery all week. She was able to play when the ibuprofen hit but it was a low energy week for the most excited girl ever. We had a new house this year! It was missing the pickle ball court but had a fun pool with a slide and jumping ledges.

We finally had rain in Palm Springs. Two half days of it. The pool table got a lot of use.

We also had a great outdoor bar/kitchen that got a ton of use.

This was the first time we've ever been on Spring Break over Easter! Of course there was an egg hunt.

So unwell.

Whew. I'm not used to such long posts anymore. I'll finish this up later!

Spring Fever

Can one get spring fever when there was no winter? It was nice most of this week. Like short sleeves nice.

Rob throws discs in the backyard. Sometimes the kids like to play too.

Kasper even played a round with Rob! He did well and I think he liked it!

We had a family pizza party in the community center in my parents neighborhood. We got some cousin time in, some aunt and uncle time, it was great! I only took this one picture but it's pretty accurate.
UntitledToday Rob and Kappy worked out in the wetland removing buckthorn. They found a buried treasure. (Also you can see Kappy's empty mouth) Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

They found the metal remains of an old bicycle seat from the early 1900's!

I think our lot was some kind of dumping ground or something because we've also found some old pots and pans and an old wagon wheel. I think Deephaven was part of an old wagon route back in the day.

And that was our week! Spring Break is getting closer and closer. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Pulled

The only bit of excitement in our week was when Kasper went to the dentist to have 8 teeth pulled!

The orthodontist wanted the teeth out because they were too attached to the bone to come out on their own and the adult teeth are just waiting. No one wants braces in college (*cough**Robert*) so we needed to urge things along. 8 teeth is a lot all at once but the dentist said he didn't need to be sedated because they were baby teeth. Turns out he was right! We were all nervous but sounds like it went about as well as couple be expected. 1 of 8 gave some trouble and had to be worked on but the rest popped out! Apparently the dentist was delighted with each tooth he pulled out because they had very, very long roots. One molar had 3 roots. But now it's done and we move to phase 2 - waiting for adult teeth to move in.

Kappy was a real rockstar and I know he's happy to have that behind him.

Guess we didn't take an after yet but I'll wait until they're not bloody sockets. You're welcome.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

44

I turned the big 44 today! Time flies.

We've been just bebopping along, enjoying the random 60 degree days.

And the windy days.

And now here goes another week. A year older this time.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
