August

August has been a little nuts for us. I feel like the kids have been gone for most of it so far! 

This week they each spent a couple days at my parents' house. 

Rob and I spent time doing what we've done while the kids are gone.

Ever since we moved Marlo has been having trouble sleeping. She's up crying most nights about something or another. After seeing her grandparents, she wakes up missing them. Last night was especially bad and after being up for a long time and waking up others, Rob moved her to the couch where she slept until 10 am. I really hope it gets better soon. She's tired. 

 

It was a beautiful weekend! We got out for walks, runs and bike rides today! Marlo was an instant pro with her new bigger bike and is way faster than she used to be!

Kid free

We had an unplanned kid free week! The kids went home with Grandma Sandra after Lost Lake Lodge and stayed in St. Cloud until Friday.

It was a beautiful week so Rob and I spent most nights after work walking disc golf courses. Rob played, I just walked. One night we brought dinner to our new lot! We're sitting where the house will be so we'll have this wonderful view of the wetland. Fun fact, our lot includes all you can see here! It's almost all wetland so it's gonna be a beautiful natural habitat to appreciate. 

Of course Rob got a disc golf basket set up. 

The kids had a super fun week.

 

 They got home Friday. We got to enjoy the beautiful weekend with doughnuts down by a lake, swimming in the pool, dinner on the deck.

Lost Lake

We had a short week this week! Marlo went to Explorers M-W while Kasper mixed things up. He spent one day with Rob at his office in downtown Minneapolis! They did some work, went out for burgers and got haircuts. 

We headed up to Lost Lake Lodge on Thursday! We got there around dinner time and had a beautiful day Friday to play at the beach. 

Unfortunately it drizzled basically all day yesterday and all this morning so we had only 1 day at the beach. Yesterday we went to Grandview Lodge for their buffet breakfast. 

The kids got a tiny but of fishing in in the rain this morning and this was the only thing they caught. 

 

It went too fast this year! We feel like we were barely there! The kids are staying in St. Cloud this week because they didn't get into their waitlisted camp. It'll be a quiet week for us!

Sport!

This week really few by! We've been binging on all the Olympics coverage which has been fun to watch! 

The kids were at a playground camp this week and it was almost 100 degrees a couple of the days. Then with the cooler air came the smoke from the Canadian forest fires which was crazy. 

There was a big disc golf tournament in MN this week/weekend. Rob spent some time spectating on Saturday then took the kids out to watch today. They got to talk to some of the pros and even had some discs and hats signed. 

In big news for us - we closed on our lot and construction loan! We could start digging any day now! Our start date is in September as we wait for some city approval but crazy that we're here at all.

Kids in Lincoln

Two days after we moved to the apartment my Grandma came to visit! Thankfully it was a nice day outside because we still weren't quite ready to host indoors yet.

We took her to the lot! We hadn't been there for a few weeks and were delightfully surprised to see how green and alive it is in the summer! 

 

The next day Grandma Sandra and Auntie Phyllis picked up the kids to take them to Lincoln for a week! Rob and I were sorry to miss it but we had too much to do back home to be able to leave. 

 

Found out Kasper loves waterskiing and grilling burgers but is allergic to cats.

Kiki and Drew! Rob's cousin's Tom's daughters. They live in TX so we don't get to see them much.

The guys took Kasper under their wings and he was driving the boat, cooking the burgers, waterskiing. He was in heaven.

While they were gone, we unpacked the apartment, had a couple meetings with the builder, ate spicy dinners and went for long walks after 8 pm. We also hung out with some of our high school friends one afternoon. Somehow a potato gun from the 90's made an appearance and it still worked! So we had our kids fire it off (with help from parents) while Rob went out on a paddle board and tried to catch the potato.  Got it!

The week since was slowly getting back to "normal" with camps and work! I can't believe it's almost August already!
