More summer!

We had a very low key week. The kids had no camps, it rained almost the whole week. It was just chill. 

We've been having so much fun with the animals in our yard. We have big bucks waltzing through, tons of turkeys, a mole that lives in our egress window with about 5 frog and toad species. We also have lots of birds. We've had more hummingbirds than ever this summer. They drink an entire feeders worth of nectar in about 4 days. There is almost always one drinking and it bubbles like a Culligan tank. I heard one screaming one night and saw this lady sitting on the feeder holder yelling for a long time. I don't know what she was going on about but I just love them. 

The kids had a sleepover in the basement one night. 

   

My Mom came over to hang with Marlo one day. Marlo took her out in the rain.

   

 Today we enjoyed our annual trip up to Clearwater for the big disc golf tournament! It was finally a beautiful day after so much rain and it was fun to just be outside. 

    

We start some various camps and lake weekends now so I'm happy we were able to relax a bit. Hope everyone had a great weekend! 

Summer!

The first week of summer was survived! We had sleepovers, bike riding days with friends, many play practices, a trip to Valleyfair and a Twins game. Oh my. I can't believe all the things we did this week! 

Kappy sure had the best week with lots of freedom which he and his buddies haven't had before. Like gone bike riding all day and home by dinner. Those are the best days.  

We've had a few bucks in the yard lately. I don't think we've seen a doe in awhile. One morning we had 4 bucks hanging out together. A real stag party. He was the biggest. 

   

Marlo had play practice Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Tuesday and Thursday, she and her bestie had tennis lessons! 

 

Today was the play Marlo has been rehearsing for since the start of school! It was Willy Wonka and she was an Oompa Loompa. The play was so much fun and everything was wonderful. The sets, the costumes, the actors. It was SO fun. 

 

That's going to be a tough week to beat. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

School's out!

Another school year in the books! We had 2 different views on the last day of school. One child was so excited for the year to be over, one was distraught. 

The last week is mostly fun with a couple middle school finals sprinkled in. 

Fun for me - one day I got home from work and there was a big snapping turtle in front of the garage door.  It wasn't moving at all. I was worried it was dead. When I left 50 minutes later to pick up Marlo it had turned around. When we got back 20 minutes after that, it was gone. 

 

I don't think I've ever seen a snapping turtle so close before. 

Lots of rain this week followed by some cool sunsets. This one was so pink it made the plants in the wetland look pink.

This weekend was nice and relaxing for the most part. Rob played in a disc golf tournament in the mornings then we went to an art fair, I tried to resucitate the grass, we went to the Cottagewood Store for ice cream and swings, Kasper is off at his first sleepover of the summer. On a school night. Here we go!

Rainy days

The school year is almost over! We are chugging along to the end and enjoying the many, many rainy days we've been having. After a dry winter we sure are making up for it. Marlo loves the rain.

More concerts

Marlo had her first orchestra concert of the year and they sounded so good! There was some clowning around, of course.

 In other news, Marlo outgrew her old bike and needed a bigger size! The new bike is awesome and I think it'll last her for many years. 

   

 This holidays weekkend was a busy one for us, even though we didn't get many pictures. Kasper and Rob had an Ultimate Frisbee end of the season pool party. Kasper had a sleepover. Marlo slept over at her bestie's house. We met the bestie's family at a brewery for dinner mid-playdate and enjoyed some sunshine and woodfired pizza. We did some much needed cleaning and putting away in the house. We had a hailstorm that shredded all my hostas. Whew. Now we need a vacation.

Concerts and sports

We've come to the end of the school year that's filled with projects, concerts, field trips, and a million little things to remember 

Both kids had concerts this week. Kasper had band while Marlo had choir.

Then this weekend Kasper and Rob had the state Ultimate Frisbee tournament. Marlo and I went to watch today and they played so well! It's a fun sport and I'm happy Kasper likes it.
