Marlo - 8 months

Miss Marlo - you are 8 months old today. EIGHT MONTHS!

Aren't you just the cutest little thing??

You are our little spitfire and I think that personality is here to stay.

You still want to be held much of the time but are getting more and more ok with being on the floor by yourself. You (still) like Mom best. At Aunt Steph's wedding you were mostly ok with being passed around from person to person. Until you saw Mom. Then it was over. This month you were more into your Papa than you have been in the past and get excited to see him. You are also still very much in love with your brother. You have started to PLAY with him which I know he is getting a huge kick out of.

You entertain yourself on the floor by crawling all over the place and standing up in the most inconvenient places. We hear a lot of "Marlo is touching my toys!" around here because nothing is more fun than brother's toys. You really got the legs and arms working and can cruise! I'm shocked at the amount of ground you can cover in a short amount of time. Of course that means the baby gate is closed again and we're starting to re-baby proof. You also stand whenever you see the chance. If course it's: on the bathtub on the tile floor, on the garbage can that doesn't support your weight, on the most unsteady/sharp end tables, etc. You live dangerously.

You remain a great sleeper and prefer to put yourself to sleep. Sometimes I'll lay you down awake and when I peek at you on the monitor you're sitting in your crib or being generally mischievous. You always manage to settle down for the night yourself and fall to sleep, much to my continued amazement. You have not been waking up at all during the night for milk and sleep from 7:30 - 7ish. At daycare you take 2-30 minute naps. At home you take 3 naps that last anywhere from 1-3 hours. You sleep mostly on your tummy now. When you wake up in the morning you are content to play in your crib for 30-45 minutes (!!) until we come down to get you. You smile so big and giggle when someone comes down to get you in the morning. Sometimes Kasper goes down first and all we hear upstairs are giggles and squeals from both of you. You still sleep with a paci and we are in no hurry to get rid of it this time around. If it soothes you, go for it girl.

You are getting much better at eating. You were screaming at the table at daycare so you spent much of the month eating all by yourself 15 minutes before the other kids with one teacher entirely focused on feeding you. This was the only way you would eat. After a few weeks of that, you just this week have started eating with the other kids without screaming. You are also eating your vegetables which you previously refused to eat. You eat most vegetables, most fruits, chicken, bread and yogurt. You had steak once and loved it. Papa just cut a strip off his steak and you gnawed on it while blood ran down your arms. It was a little gross to me but you were having such a nice time. We introduced a sippy cup but it's not catching on yet. You're still drinking 13-15 oz of milk a day at daycare.

You do NOT like being in your car seat for more than 10 minutes. You SCREAM until we take you out. You will make yourself sick in your freak outs. I really hope you get over that soon because car trips will be miserable for you. I have a hunch it'll be better once you can turn around but that won't happen for a bit so let's persevere.

You also do not like when I sing The First Noel. It still makes you cry.

You wear size 2 diapers though the next pack I bought are size 3. You are in cloth at home a lot of the time. You are in 3-6 month clothes. I suppose now that you are 8 months I can go to the next size just to freshen up your wardrobe. I just love having a girl to dress and you look so adorable in all your girlie stuff.

You are a very happy baby for the most part. You laugh all day long and it's the cutest sound. You love to play and be silly. You have such a sweet smile.

Your nickname continues to be Muggins. Or sometimes Mugs. I wonder how long it'll stick.

We love you so much, girl. You are truly a joy.

Love, Mama
