Christmas 2012

Are we ready for Part 2: Christmas Day??

We woke up Christmas morning and ran out in to the living room to see what Santa left in our stockings! Santa was very good to us this year. (Btw, I worked on that stocking for Kasper while I was hugely pregnant. I wanted to make sure I had in done in case he was born early and would've been around for Christmas in 2010! Seeing it brings back good memories...)

It was BITTERLY cold Christmas morning. We bundled up and headed across town to Grandma Sandra's house. We crossed the Mississippi River which was covered in mist. It looked so cool, I made Rob pull over so I could run out to the middle of the bridge and snap some photos. I was an icicle by the time I got back to the car but I think this view was pretty amazing.

We made it to Sandra's where she made us a delicious breakfast. Kasper found Rob's old Mickey Mouse ears and wanted to wear them around.

Santa was also good to us at Grandma Sandra's house! Kasper got TONS of cool toys that he continues to play with even at home! I got a flash for my camera which has basically rocked my photography world. I hooked that bad boy up as soon as I got it and haven't looked back.

Also at Sandra's, I received one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever received. Thank you, Gail, for the beautiful vase. We will treasure it - it is absolutely gorgeous. I just love milk glass!

We headed back to my parents house so Kasper could take a nap before dinner. Soon after we got home, my Grandpa and Grandma Keller got there! It was fun to spend time with them. Kasper got to show off all of his new toys while I got to play around with the new flash.

He is seriously hilarious with this camera. One of these days I'm going to snag it before he erases everything.

Christmas Eve 2012

Ok! Here is the first installment of the Christmas posts - Christmas Eve!

We spent Christmas Eve with my parents - we are a Christmas Eve present opening family. We made sure to eat dinner early so Kasper could get in on the present opening! When we were kids, my sister and I remember thinking our parents were TORTURING us Christmas Eve when they would take 2 hours to wash dishes after dinner! In reality it was about 20 minute but man it felt like forever when we were younger.

This is a little blurry but I have to include a pic of us in our Christmas Eve sweatshirts. Steph and I have worn ours for about 20 years now.

Merry Christmas Eve!

Kasper opened presents like an old pro. He got right in there and opened any he came across, whether they were his or not!

One of his FAVORITE gifts was his own camera! He picked that sucker up and started shooting away. It was hilarious! Doesn't he look like a natural shutter bug?

I wish I could share some of his shots but after he took them he erased them all! Haha! They should make the delete button a little less obvious.

That's Christmas Eve! Stay tuned for later in the week when I'll post our Christmas Day!

Getting into the 2013 swing

So I realize I haven't written about Christmas or Kasper's birthday yet. I'm a little behind! Since I'm already behind on them, I'm going to plow ahead with the current week and fill in the blanks later. Check back this week, I'm planning on writing about Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in 2 posts.

Anyway...

A couple days before Kasper's first birthday we switched his car seat to forward facing!!
Someone gets to go forward facing a couple days early. It's a whole new world out there!

It's been so much fun seeing his little face back there! He LOVES being able to see out the windshield and makes sure to name everything he sees.
How much do I love seeing this face behind me in the car!?

One night Kasper ate dinner, then it was bath time. Towards the end of his bath he decided he wanted more dinner and he wanted me to feed it to him. It was pretty silly but I obliged because it's not often my big boy wants to be babied by his Mama!

I even had to hold his milk up to his mouth at the end.

It was nice having a day off in the middle of the week for New Years because the rest of the week flew by! Yesterday was Rob's birthday but it was also the first day of SWIMMING LESSONS! Kasper loves "swimming" in the tub and he enjoyed his first round of lessons last winter. This year? HATED IT.

He and Rob got into the pool and he just clung to Rob. He didn't want to do any of the activities and just sobbed the whole time. He repeated "Go to Mama" over and over and over. I even sat in the other room in the hopes that not seeing me would help! It didn't and we left class early. Oh well. Maybe next week.

(Side note, as I was going through these pics Kasper was pointing at the instructor saying what I thought was Molly but when I asked if her name was Molly he said Nope. When Rob got home I asked him. Her name is MADDY. Kasper remembered his swim instructor's name from the day before! Isn't that crazy?)

So, tuckered out from swimming he fell asleep in my arms while we were singing before his nap. I actually walked out and asked Rob to come back and take our picture so I could remember.

This morning we went over to our friends Anna and Pete's house for brunch. It was delicious and we all had a fun time watching Kasper and their soon-to-be 1 year old play. They played so well together! I was very proud with how gentle Kasper was with Jack and how well he shared.

(It was as cute as it looks)

We're getting back into the swing of things after the holidays! Kasper is going to be so disappointed when there aren't any presents to open next week! Be sure to check back for a Christmas re-cap. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
