Cardinals

The baby cardinals hatched!! I have been OBSESSED with watching the cardinal family this week. Mom and Dad are taking such good care of the 3 little birds. They are SO CUTE whenever Mom and Dad are around. Their little beaks go shooting out of the nest hungry for grubs or whatever is for dinner. I staked them out one night for dinner.

Ugh

It's in the 40's today. And I think we have a frost warning tonight! What the heck, spring!

We also had 3 nights of thunder which made for sleepy kids and sleepy parents. I have never liked thunder and storms, Kasper inherited my anxiety for storms but Marlo is on another level. She shakes and cries in terror. Poor thing. She was so tired this week.

I think the tiredness went to her head.

Kasper lost a ball he brought to school so Rob took the kids back to school and they found it, then got to enjoy some playground time! It was a beautiful week for the most part (aside from the thunderstorms) and we even made it to 80 degrees!

Baby Harriet turned 2 this week! We celebrated her birthday yesterday as well as my Mom whose birthday is today! Happy Birthday Mom!

Kasper is still super into dot to dot books. He makes himself comfortable anywhere.

Today has been rainy, windy and cold. We ran errands and got chores done. We split up and each took a kid. Rob and Marlo had a fun time.

Hope everyone had a great weekend, and is satisfied with the final (and rightful?) occupier of The Iron Throne!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms! I am lucky enough to have many wonderful moms in my life. On to the week...

I'll start with this gem. I can't believe Marlo was so little and had so few teeth for so long. This ham is going to kindergarten in the fall! Hard to believe!

In fact she had her kindergarten orientation this week. She got to ride a bus and do a project in a classroom. Thankfully there were 3 other kids there from her daycare so she was willing to participate.

Her shy face.

We had a beautiful weekend here! Mostly beautiful anyway. We did some good yard work and got some plants in the ground. I think after tonight I can put tomatoes in then I'll sit back and watch nothing bear fruit. The beginning of the season anticipation is the best. We also burned all the sticks in the yard. It's looking pretty good.

Today was Mother's Day and I had a fantastic day! I made beignets for breakfast then we went to a garden store for some last minute additions to the yard. Every year my most favorite Mother's Day gift is a clean car, inside and out. I highly recommend it after a long MN winter.

Hi-Ya

We had another busy week! We are loving the nicer weather lately and are enjoying a MN spring.

It was screen-free week this past week and Kasper's after school care program observed it. It was kind of a struggle to stay screen-free all week! We played games, did dot-to-dots, read books. It was part refreshing/part stressful.

One night Marlo spent an hour breaking styrofoam into little pieces. Worth it.

Yesterday was the Kicking 4 Miracles event for tae kwon do. SUCH a fun event for everyone!

And last but not least, I got a better picture of Mama Cardinal sitting on her nest. I just love her. I get to look at her while I'm at the sink and she's so cute. Her nest is quite a bit smaller than she is so her little tail sits straight up.

It was a BEAUTIFUL weekend! It was supposed to be nice yesterday but today was almost just as nice! What a bonus! We spent a lot of time outside. I got to go to my first plant sale of the year and am dreaming of gardens. The kids have been having a great time playing outside, riding bikes and playing baseball.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
