Roughin' it

This weekend we took away Kasper's activity station toy that used to live in the corner of our sunroom. Sigh. Do I need so many reminders that he's not a little baby anymore?

We replaced the excersaucer with a big boy play tent. So fun!

We even had a snack in there this weekend!

I mean, shoot, is he a heartbreaker or what?

Someone must have stolen Kasper's food in a previous life because he crams his mouth full of food like it's a sport.

These pictures are a gentle nudge telling me to cut K's hair again. Maybe a summer buzz cut?

Summer is the best

So far, this summer really has been the best! Hopefully we're doing a good job of balancing things we have to do with things we want to do.

One evening after dinner Rob and Kasper retired to the living room for some guy talk. Does Kasper look adorable sitting in his chair? I thought so too.

When having a conversation with Kasper, talk will almost always turn to his classmates. I think he was naming them here.

One night Kasper was entertaining us with fish lips and other assorted faces.

Then he wanted to try my lime.

Even with a reaction like that, he soldiered on and ate a bit of the lime.

Funny video of Kasper's new laugh.

Grandpa Steve brought Kasper a Mexico soccer kit from their last trip to Mexico. He wore it to school one day and his teachers LOVED it! I guess he was the talk of the Center that day!

This picture is random but makes me smile. Isn't that how we all feel at the end of a long day?

Since it was so nice out we headed to the Landscape Arboretum. Like always, I guess. The roses were AMAZING while my favorites, the peonies, were on their way out. The lady slippers are also not to be missed.

Last night we had lots of fun playing around here. I tied a dish towel around Kasper's neck as his cape. He LOVED it!

I was even able to capture his latest trick. He moves his little stool around the house to reach places he's not allowed. Here he's made it to the kitchen.

Then he pushed it over to the sliding door (which he's normally unable to reach.)

Side note - that's a pre-existing stain on the dish towel. Fear not.

This morning Rob went for a bike ride, Kasper and I ran to Target then after K's nap we headed over to my sister's apartment to lounge in the pool a bit. It was something like 94 degrees today so the pool felt great! Kasper does so well in the water. We just have to keep sticking him in the pool so he can be nice and comfortable swimming.

I'll end with a pic of Kasper in his jammies tonight. The Great White Bias Tape Hunt of 2012 brought me to Wal-mart. On my way back to the sewing stuff I happened upon these pjs and HAD to get them. Kasper just loves Elmo and sure enough he drug these things around all day until it was bedtime. So proud.

Ok! Time to get Rob and me a slice of fresh strawberry pie I made this weekend. Delish!

Happy June

This is going to be a short post - the 4th this week!

As the story of our Spring/Summer has been, we had a busy week and relaxing weekend. I think this summer is going to be different from the previous many summers because the majority of our friends are married so we don't have a bunch of weddings to go to. Also with the baby, we tend to keep close to home which is nice.

Anyway...

Kasper thinks it's great fun lately to play "Night night" with the kitchen rug.

There have been some requests for videos so here's one of Kasper using a fork!

Saturday morning Rob went running with Pete so Anna and I loaded the kids in the car and headed to the Arboretum. I know I say it all the time but the Arboretum has been one of our favorite places to be this summer. It's so close and it's so wonderful to walk around and see what's in bloom. It was a BEAUTIFUL day so it was great spending time outside.

Baby Jack! He's adorable.

I know Kasper was that size not long ago so it's hard to believe he's such a big boy now.

The state flower was blooming! I love lady slippers.

We played around on the deck last night after dinner. Kasper made sure to do a lot of the things he loves:

I asked about his "moco" (booger). He actually acts like he pulls it off his nose then proudly hands it to me.

After Kasper went to bed, Rob and I made ourselves a little fire and made s'mores!

Today has been, surprise surprise, a relaxing day. Kasper and I went for a run this morning while Rob went bike riding then we all met up at Target for groceries. Kasper is very serious about pushing the cart.

After K's nap we walked down to the park since it was such a nice afternoon. Kasper sort of wanders around until he zeros in on the swings and that's where you can find us for hours. I was actually on the adult swing next to K for awhile until I started to feel ill and had to get off. He was nowhere near done.

(See the black and blue marks on his shins from crawling over the sliding door tracks on his knees? Ouch!)

When it was time to go Kasper was adamant about pulling the wagon so we let him walk it along the path.

You guys, he walked that wagon up that hill all by himself!

He almost made it to the top but when he would stop every couple steps and touch the flowers we knew he was done. He sat in the wagon and chugged some water the rest of the way home.

We all relaxed until it was time to eat. (I am so thankful Kasper and Lois get along so well.)

Kasper was BEAT. It was pretty cute. He went off to bed early tonight and I didn't hear him complain.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
