Slow down

Life is slow right now and we are loving it. Normal weeks and lazy weekends are a treat!

We had a boring week. I can't even remember anything memorable about it except Rob and the kids played a lot of nighttime football with a light-up ball and LED-fingered gloves. They call themselves the "Fiber Optics" and they're apparently quite the team.

Yesterday we went to the pancake breakfast at school which is always a fun time. After the breakfast we go to the book fair where the kids pick out a million books they want. Marlo had a birthday party to go to and after that we did NOTHING. Naps, movies, fires in the fireplace, more night football. I was very productive on the necklace front where I am feverishly preparing for Black Friday and the holiday season.

Rob took the kids out for an adventure where they had a picnic lunch then rolled an old steel wheel down the hill. They managed to find a second wheel with a whitewall tire to also roll down the hill.

Bye fall

Honestly I can't even remember the beginning of this week. Must've been uneventful!

The kids had no school Friday so they went to stay with Grandma Sandra!

Yesterday Marlo got to go to a birthday party of one of her daycare friends. She has been DYING to see them so I know she had a fantastic time. Grandma took both Kasper and Marlo to the party and it sounds like they both enjoyed themselves!

Rob and I went out for a night with other school parents! Kasper has had the best buddies since kindergarten and all the parents also enjoy hanging out. It's fun because the next group of kindergarten siblings have the same teacher and are friends with each other.

Today, Rob took the kids out for a woods adventure.

It's been so cold the ice is starting to form on the lake.

My Mom stopped over to help with Kasper's craft project for the 3rd grade bazaar - tie dye! It was relatively mess free which was surprising.

We're headed into the deep freeze which I'm not excited about. The good news is Rob got the Christmas lights up before a) it got too cold and b) he broke his arm again. A success! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Happy Halloween!

The kids were so excited for Halloween this week! And it was a nice day! I took the day off and got to go to the school's Halloween parade.

I got the kids a little early so we could have dinner with friends and go trick or treating! The kids loved their costumes.

Yesterday Kasper's soccer team had an end of the season party then we went into Minneapolis for a high school friend's 40th birthday party. WE ARE TURNING 40. Crazy. It was chilly outside but the kids had a ton of fun playing outside.

Today Rob tackled more leaves, Kasper had a play date, I did inside chores and Marlo made a whole suite of pirate accessories out of paper.

Leaves

Is it Spring Break yet?

Last Sunday Rob and Kasper went to brand-new Allianz Field in St. Paul to see the Minnesota United in their first Major League Soccer playoff game! The Loons (as they are called locally) lost to the LA Galaxy, but the boys still had a great time.

Kids got their school pictures back. They were both happy with them so we didn't push retakes on anyone whose mohawk went limp.

I want to look back and remember that Marlo puts a smily face somewhere in her name every time she writes it at school.

The kids went up to St. Cloud Friday night for a trunk or treat event with Grandma Sandra. Rob and I treated ourselves to a night out with sushi.
IMG_8362

We hung mostly close to home this weekend. Rob had a yard full of leaves to tackle and I had necklaces to make. Sometimes it seems like I can't make them fast enough before they sell!

The kids and I got the paper chain done to count down the days until Palm Springs! It looks like a lot but it'll be here before we know it.

I think we finished the yard work in the nick of time! The highs this week are in the 30's!! I'm just not ready for winter this year!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Living large

What a fun week we had!

Wednesday night we met friends for dinner at a place we hadn't tried yet called demi. You have to get reservations the first day of the month before you want to go. Our friends made reservations on September 1 and invited us! It's the new restaurant by Gavin Kaysen who has some really great places in the Cities. We did the 2 hour meal - it was 13 dishes and just a fantastic experience. The food was excellent and the vibe was just cool. There are only 20 seats around the kitchen and you're all getting the same food. Gavin was in the restaurant and talked with us a handful of times throughout our meal!

The kids had MEA this Thursday and Friday and we did a mix of Explorers one day and playing with Grandma and Grandpa one day. Yesterday the kids went to a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese! I didn't take them and haven't been to a Chuck E Cheese for decades. Apparently it was interesting.

We met Grandma Sandra and Dan for dinner last night to celebrate Grandma's birthday (which is tomorrow!).

It was a gorgeous weekend and we decided to go to the corn maze. I was worried it was going to be a nightmare but it was great! We had such a great time.
